I had a much-needed, self-care/touristy day in DTL

I had a much-needed, self-care/touristy day in DTLA yesterday. Even though I’ve lived in Downtown for a couple of years now, there’s still SO much to explore!

Some highlights of yesterday —
• I had no idea @thebroadmuseum has free admission for all, every day. Just reserve a time slot in advance. They have a couple of Yayoi Kusama exhibits available now as well!
• If you’ve been to Grand Central Market before, keep popping in. Lots of new to me vendors, but I scrambled at the chance to get an Eggslut sandwich because there was no line on a weekday!
• If you have a TAP card, you can ride Angel’s Flight Railway for only 50 cents. You can download one digitally (mine is in my Apple wallet!) & there’s no minimum balance you have to carry on it!
• Tried a new-ish natural wine bar in the Arts District that reminds me of my favorite wine bar in Paris — @lechamp_la. They have a fantastic happy hour that starts at 3:30. I can’t wait to go back; the wine list & small bites were so good!

I chatted about this on stories but…I’m trying really hard to get into the holiday spirit, but I’m struggling! I love living in LA but the lack of seasons really gets to me sometimes as a native East-coaster🙃 Anyone else feeling overwhelmed with the holidays this year?
In an effort to NOT be the grinch, I’m going to take it easy this year, and just share a few holiday things that I love the most. HOW TO PLAN THE ULTIMATE WINE TASTING TRIP IN EUROPE ⬇️ (Save this for your upcoming travels!)
If you’re going to go wine tasting in Europe, two regions that I think complement one another very well are the Mosel region in Germany and the region of Bordeaux in France! The elegant German Rieslings + bold Bordeaux blends balance each other out so perfectly, and it’s incredible to learn about both regions’ range of wine styles and varietals in depth!
TIPS ON HOW TO PLAN:
You can fly in/out of Frankfurt to get to the Mosel. It’s about a 2-hour drive from the airport – I’d recommend renting a car to explore the region. There are a ton of great hikes and small towns to explore when you’re not wine tasting, too!
A flight from Frankfurt to Bordeaux is inexpensive, and Lufthansa offers short and direct flight options!
Stay in the city center of Bordeaux, and go carless – it’s very walkable! Hire a driver to get you out to the wineries.
Wineries might be a little slower in the winter, but April-October is a great time to visit either region!
October has a special place in my heart because it’s harvest season.
