Some of you know that I’m a former ballerina. Not professional or anything, but I did it pretty seriously from age 3 to 18 and dabbled in competition level dancing back in the day. Even though I’m no longer in peak ballerina shape, I love taking barre class to get the dance studio workout that I crave.

I was so stoked when the folks over at Vaseline invited me to try Flywheel and learn all about their fabulous partnership. You can choose between spin classes and barre classes at our Flywheel location, so the dancer in me naturally opted for the barre class option.

All I have to say about this class is yowza! I’ve taken plenty of barre classes in and around the D.C. area, but I’ve never experienced anything quite like Flywheel’s classes. It’s a far more of an intense, athletic approach to barre than I’ve experienced in the past. One thing I love about Flywheel’s barre class is that I felt like I got way more of a total body workout than I have at other barre classes. Our instructor, Marisa, really focused on arms and core — two problem areas I always feel like I need to work out more.

I came into the class with a pretty weak arm; I suffer from carpal tunnel and of course the day I was scheduled for the class was the day my arm was acting up and feeling a bit numb. I loved that Marisa saw that I was down an arm and was able to modify each arm exercise so that I was still able to fully participate in class. Thank you Marisa!

After the class, I was in for a treat: Flywheel was handing out complimentary Vaseline Intensive Care Spray Moisturizers. This lotion is the perfect pick me up after any workout and is ideal for a girl on the go. I was able to apply the lotion in seconds, it was incredibly easy and quick to rub the lotion in and it has an amazing lightweight scent. I applied this lotion on seriously the hottest day of the year (it got up to 97 degrees!) and my skin never felt greasy after using this spray lotion. I’ve started using this lotion on a daily basis; not only is it perfect for a post-workout refresh, but it is a great lotion to throw on during the summer!

I can’t wait for my next visit to Flywheel. I definitely plan on trying out the spin class next! There are Flywheel locations all across the U.S., so make sure to stop by and visit one near you for one of the best workouts of your life!

  11. This class sounds so intense! I love workout classes though and would love to give it a try. That’s so neat that you were a ballerina for so long! Kudos to you because that takes a lot of discipline. I’ve been really curious about the spray-on lotion. It really does sound like it’s perfect for summer!

  18. LOVE your pants!! They’re adorable. The flywheel barre class sounds so interesting but I’m not a dancer so I probably wouldn’t be good at it lol. My best friend has been dancing for a long time though, so I’ll have to see if she’s ever heard of it. She might want to try it!!

  26. I used to dance too until I was 18 and have been wanting to give a barre class a try since I have been missing dance lately. I’ll definitely now see if I can find a flywheel studio!

  27. Wait….how on earth did I miss that you’re a former dancer too??? I knew we were destined to be friends! I trained in ballet my whole life and taught for nearly ten years! I’m dying to go back to Flywheel and try out the barre class – it looked amazing! I barely survived the cycling class haha, but I felt so amazing afterwards! BTW, isn’t that lotion incredible? It’s a big time favorite of mine!
