Okay, so this post is way more photo heavy than normal, but Lisa did such a knockout job with these photos, I really had a hard time narrowing things down. Sorry not sorry. Anyway, welcome to August’s Foodie Files! If you’re new here or need a refresher, I chat about one of my favorite local restaurants and pair a little outfit inspiration with it so you know what the vibe at that restaurant is like. Food and fashion. My everything, basically.

Tupelo Honey Cafe, which is a growing chain that originated in the south, opened up only a couple of blocks away from my apartment, and I finally tried their brunch a couple of weeks ago. I’m actually kind of mad that I tried it, because now I know where I’m spending all of my income. Guys. It was so, so so good. It’s delicious southern cuisine with a bit of flair: I loved that you could get dishes such as fried chicken with kale and southwest breakfast bowl with grits. The only con I have about their brunch is that they don’t have a bottomless option, but most places in Virginia don’t, so that’s not outside of the norm.

As for the outfit, since I can seriously walk out of my apartment building and basically stumble into this restaurant, I went super casual. It’s Arlington so let’s be honest: it’s a super casual town anyway. I wore my new favorite striped t-shirt dress from Lulus which was perfect for brunching on even the muggiest day in July. I also just slid into my favorite pair of slider sandals, since it’s a way chicer alternative to flip flops. I would size up one or two sizes with this dress, it looks fantastic oversized and it’s a little on the short side!

Get the grits if you stop by Tupelo Honey, and please guys, snapchat me your experience!

Haha this post made me laugh “I’m mad I tried it.” That’s how I feel about the the girl who first made me try Chick Fil A my freshman year of college (up North where I’m from we don’t have CFA so I didn’t grow up with it!). Hahaha.

Anyways- Tupelo Honey is AMAZING! I’ve been to one of their South Carolina locations! They opened in Charlotte last year but finally at the end of the school year I figured out what part of town the location was in- I need to go this year! Loved this post!

Sounds like you enjoyed a great brunch! I’ve never heard of Tupelo Honey, but the chicken and kale sounds de-lish. Also loving those sliders, which I’ve drooled over and debated buying before. And the watch and bracelet are so similar to a set I wear on the daily!
