TRIM Bootcamp:
You guys: I’m not good at wellness. Period. I’m always kind of shocked when potential blog sponsors email me asking if I want to promote a workout/healthy food/etc. because, to be honest, I have no idea what I’m doing. I was lucky enough to have a fast metabolism my entire life, and I was able to eat what I wanted to without consequence…until I hit my late 20s. Just a reminder, skinny ≠ in shape — even when I was a size 2, I would still get winded going up a flight of stairs!
I wanted to get my life in check. I’ve gained 25 lbs over the past year and counting. After I came home from Argentina, I could hardly button my pants. And yes, I still got winded walking up a flight of stairs. I decided to sign up for TRIM Bootcamp since I saw some of my other blogger friends have a ton of success with it.
And guess what? I failed the program. But it’s ok, you guys!
Let’s backtrack: what exactly is TRIM Bootcamp, you ask? It’s a 7-week program where you do intermittent fasting, set workouts each day, modify your diet and join an accountability group on Facebook. It’s a comprehensive guide so you can keep on top of all of your fitness and wellness goals. I was super stoked to join and loved my first couple of weeks in the program.
And then, I started traveling. More. And more. And more. I was hardly home and unable to cook any meals, and I was struggling to find healthy items on the go and fit in a workout. I would have days where I popped in and out of meetings in D.C. for 12 hours straight and had to eat whatever was available. Long story short: I started spiraling out of control. There were days when I hardly ate anything at all, and days where I started binge eating because I was so ravenously hungry from the fasting.
Unfortunately, I won’t have a before/after to share with you because I struggled with this round. The program itself is incredible, and if you want to sign up for the next round, I’d highly recommend it. I’ve only been home for ten days in the past month, and traveling and keeping up both a diet and an exercise routine has been incredibly difficult for me.
I know it’s 100% possible to be a frequent flyer AND keep up with your fitness goals. My girl Lauren is killing it with the early AM workouts while traveling (and TBH, I might need to get some advice from her on how to keep up!)
I’m going to try out TRIM Bootcamp again, but I’m going to aim for a 7-week period where I’m home for the majority of it. I might have failed this round, but I want to get back on track of things and take control of my health.
Even though I didn’t quite make it through the entire program, I did learn how to count macros and started implementing intermittent fasting into my normal routine, which is something I never thought I’d be able to do. When I’m at the supermarket, I am reading those nutrition labels and making more conscious decisions about what to eat.
While I’m a bit disappointed in my performance, I’m so glad I did this program in the long run — and can’t wait for Round 2.
