Let’s face it: it’s hard staying healthy on the go. Between my fast-paced day job and marketing and my incredibly full blogging schedule, I’m pretty limited on free time. One thing I’ve learned, however, is that being busy isn’t an excuse to dive into unhealthy habits. Sure, I love my pizza and wine, but I have made a few easy tweaks to my daily routine that have helped me stay healthy!
Some of you know that I’m a former ballerina. Not professional or anything, but I did it pretty seriously from age 3 to 18 and dabbled in competition level dancing back in the day. Even though I’m no longer in peak ballerina shape, I love taking barre class to get the dance studio workout that I crave.
I was so stoked when the folks over at Vaseline invited me to try Flywheel and learn all about their fabulous partnership. You can choose between spin classes and barre classes at our Flywheel location, so the dancer in me naturally opted for the barre class option.

Some of you might know that I’m a moderator and the D.C. Regional Chair for the Her Campus Blogger Network. As regional chair, it’s my responsibility to plan meetups and events for local members. I do marketing and event planning for my “day job”, however, this is the very first blogging event I’ve planned on my own.
For our first HCBN meetup, I had to take the girls to one of my favorite barre studios in the area: Barre Tech. As a former ballerina and someone who hates treadmills, this workout is ideal. I took my very first barre class at Barre Tech back in September and they’ve successfully turned me into a barre addict. What I love the most about barre is that it’s a good workout for all levels. If you’re a little more advanced, you have the option to pile on more weights. If you’re like me and trying to get back into shape, you might not need to use any weights at all 🙂 Oops!
Fun fact about me: I’m a dancer. Like, a pre-professional, ballet trained dancer. Back in high school, you could find me in the dance studio five days a week. That’s why I always prefer workouts that take place in a studio setting. Treadmills kind of make me want to keel over.
305 Fitness, a workout craze that has captivated NYC, is now available in D.C. They invited me to try one of their classes and boy, was I in for a treat! Named after Miami’s area code, 305 Fitness is a dance cardio workout that infuses dance moves, sports drills and high intensity interval training (HIIT) to create a fun, full-body workout.
Long story short, this class kicked my little dancer butt! Choreography-wise, this wasn’t that difficult, so you don’t have to worry about not being able to pick up the moves. I loved that they combined a little booty shaking with your classic fitness moves such as jumping jacks and running. Also, the coolest part about this class? They dim the lights down real low and there’s a live DJ that spins in class! It feels just like a Saturday night out with the girls. Except, you know, you’re sweating 10 minutes into your dance sesh!
For my D.C. area readers, I’m offering you to experience 305 Fitness for yourself! I’m giving away one free class for you and a friend! To enter, just submit your info below. If you can’t wait for the giveaway to end and want to book your class now, you can reserve your spot here!
