Since I’ve had a few back-to-back trips these last few weeks, I thought I’d have my new assistant, Ellie, write a guest post for the blog. I hope you enjoy this piece — she had a lot of fun putting this together!

Hey, y’all! My name is Ellie Barber, and I am Alicia’s assistant. I’m 22 years old and from Charlottesville, Virginia. On a typical day, you can find me watching The Office with a very large coffee in hand or at work bringing home the bacon. I am so excited to be a part of the team here! I love all things bright and colorful, so what better way to introduce myself to you all than with a post about bright and bold summer decor.
I’m in this strange transitional point in my life where I’m now an adult decorating a home instead of a dorm room. Since I am 22, It can be a little tricky to shop for fun and affordable decor, and changing it up based on the season can be even more challenging. Now, I am an October baby so fall will always have my heart, but there is just something so lovely about summertime in Virginia. All of the colors from the plants and trees serve as my inspiration for summer decor ideas. These picks are all under $100, which is great considering I’m still balling on a (very tight) budget.
I’m a huge fan of accent accessories. I think my favorite things in the world are good throw pillows and blankets, and it helps that they’re usually on the cheaper end as well. Candles come in at a close second because they’re so good at making your home feel inviting and all you have to do is light them! The curtains are great because if you like to stick to neutrals or want to revamp your bedroom or dining room, they’re a good pop of color without being too distracting.
A lot of these picks were chosen because they are good transitional pieces too. The metallic pieces and the marble and wood pieces work through the fall as well! I can’t wait to try some of these in my own home!
