Can you believe that Memorial Day Weekend is only in a few days? I’m so ready to kick off summer 2015, and what better way to usher in pool days, BBQ’s and tons of travel than with a fun playlist? My friend and recording artist JDVBBS has created the ultimate summer playlist for you to enjoy this season! I hope you enjoy!
This past winter was brutal. Brutal to the point where we thought the summer may not even come again. But alas the sun is finally shining, the boots (with the exception of cowboy) have been put away and it’s time to celebrate. How, you ask? With some of the best Memorial day tunes you can think of, complied into one dope summer playlist.
This playlist includes something for everyone. From perennial summer classics such as Zach Brown Band’s “Chicken Fried” and DeeeLite’s “Groove Is In The Heart” to new hits like Tori Kelly’s “Nobody Love” and Fetty Wap’s “Trap Queen”, these are the songs that are sure to get any of your summer events poppin’.
Memorial Day Playlist
Jack U Feat. Keisza, Missy Elliot – Take U There
Just when you thought the brain child of Skrillex and Diplo couldn’t get any better, Missy comes through and puts some of that “So Addictive” stank on it. “Take U There” will be the track your friends going to summer music festivals will be raving about.
DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince – Summertime
Yes, you read these artists correctly. Will Smi… I mean The Fresh Prince is the originator of the ultimate “Summertime” jam.
Tori Kelly – Nobody Love
Tori Kelly is wildly talented and I have a feeling this summer is only going to be the tip of the iceberg for her. Admittedly, I’m biased because she’s my dream girl.
Sublime – What I Got
There are plenty of loud, hard-hitting tracks that give you all sorts of summer party energy. Sublime’s “What I Got” is the epitome of all things chill about warm weather.
Deee-Lite – Groove Is In The Heart
“Groove is in the Heart” as well as in the summertime. Look me in the face and tell me you aren’t gonna be dancing to this old-school Deee-Lite jam at a friend’s rooftop party.
DMX – Party Up
Somewhere between being the hardest rapper in the late 90’s and beating on a desk singing Christmas tunes, DMX captured lightning in a bottle with “Party Up.” Equal parts nostalgia, awesomeness and barking make this a necessary staple in any summertime playlist.
Zac Brown Band – Chicken Fried
I’d be doing everyone a disservice if I didn’t include a country song on a summer playlist. Everything we like about this season is summed up in the first line of this song.
Fetty Wap – Trap Queen
Kids have been doing “The Whip” to “Trap Queen” all year. Now that it’s starting to warm up, expect Fetty Wap to have the summer 2015 turn-up anthem.
So this is both a shameless plug and an alienation of half the population because this song is about makeup. I envision women getting their best summer fashions together before a night on the town blasting this on repeat. Perfect tune to get the party started.
