Summer 2020 is going to look a lot different than any other summer we’ve had before.

As a travel blogger, I’ve come to terms that I probably won’t be venturing too far away from home for the rest of the year. And you know what? I’m perfectly okay with that! As much as I love exploring new places, I feel like I was constantly on the road these past three years, and I’m looking forward to a bit of downtime.

I still think the Summer of 2020 is going to be a good one, even if I’m sticking around locally. Here are a few staycation ideas that I’m doing this year to make the most out of my summer staycation!

Summer Staycation Ideas

Dress the Part

Just because you’re not traveling far from home this summer doesn’t mean that you can’t look like a million bucks!

One line that I’m loving is the Scoop by Walmart line. Season after season, it does not disappoint! I love how the styles look incredibly luxe, and you can easily snag a full outfit from this line, head-to-toe, for less than $100.

This summer, I’m all about easy dresses that will breathe well in the Mid-Atlantic heat, and that I can wear at home and around town. This gorgeous gold v-neck dress caught my eye: it’s under $50, super comfortable, and incredibly stylish! I’m wearing a Medium, but I could have probably sized down in this dress. Either way, I’ll be wearing this on repeat!

Get Acquainted With The Great Outdoors

I have to admit: I was never the outdoorsy type, but life in quarantine made me appreciate those opportunities when I was able to get a bit of fresh air!

Chances are if you’re not the most outdoorsy person that there are dozens of parks and trails that are super close to your home. The national parks near my home are starting to reopen with social distancing guidelines put in place, so I’m planning on checking those out just to change up the scenery a bit. I also plan on grabbing our favorite takeout dishes from local restaurants and setting up picnics in my favorite parks in the area.

One quarantine hobby I picked up that I plan on continuing is the neighborhood walks and outdoor exercise. Since we’re getting into the thick of summer, I plan on waking up earlier to get active outdoors since it gets so hot and humid in the afternoon!

Try Out New Hobbies

If you were to ask me what my hobbies were a year ago…I would have told you that I didn’t have any. Between running this business and traveling around the globe, I never had much time to myself!

This summer, for one of my staycation ideas I’ve enrolled in a WSET course to further my wine knowledge, and I’ve also enrolled in a braiding class so I can learn beginner-level braid techniques. Once my WSET class and exam wrap up in mid-July, I also hope to take a few French language classes as well. I took French for five years in middle-high school, but I’d love to brush up on my skills and hopefully become a bit more comfortable speaking it!

Safely Explore Some of the Reopened Places In Town

Do I plan on visiting every single place that’s reopened in town? No. But, I do plan on doing my homework, researching every businesses’ social distancing guidelines, and gauging my comfort level when it comes to going back out in public!

I’m not sure if I’ll be making any major road trips soon, but exploring places in and around town is my game plan for now! I’ll keep you posted throughout the summer if/when things change, though!

I’ve decided that this is YOUR color!! SO GOOD.
My boyfriend teaches (socially distanced, on IG LIVE) yoga at a hotel in Montauk, so that’s our little staycation on the weekends. It’s been nice to get out of the city and have some “depth” to my vision, aka not staring at a brick wall all day long in the apartment.

Thanks for the tips Alicia! Despite basically staying at home, I’ve still been dressing up lately as that truly gets me ready for the day. I love the idea of brushing up on wine knowledge as well, as that’s something that will help to keep you from boredom. This girl truly needs to learn more about wine haha
