Shop the Space & Look:

My friends, we’ve made it: we can finally kiss winter goodbye! The official first day of spring might be a few days away, but with the 60-70 degree days we’ve had this past week in the Mid-Atlantic, it certainly feels like the new season is already here.

To celebrate the new season, I spent this entire weekend revamping my home and getting it ready for spring. Here are three easy (and budget-friendly!) ways you can spruce up your home for the new season.

5 Ways to Spruce Up your Home:

Declutter & Organize

The first step to get your home ready for spring? Declutter and organize! I’m not going to lie, I still had a few holiday gifts and decor still lying around my apartment, so I took a full Sunday to go through everything and ended up putting a lot of things in storage or donating them. I was taught the KonMari method when I worked with a professional organizer a couple of years ago, and it changed my life.

Spend a few hours on different sections of your home: your office, closet, kitchen, etc. Pull everything out of your closets and drawers and go through each item one by one to decide which pieces to keep and which to donate or toss. It might be tedious, but it works — and you’ll be shocked at the amount of stuff you’ve managed to accumulate!

Add Pops of Color with Scotties

While I love spring and really enjoy warmer weather, I unfortunately suffer from pretty bad allergies (I was even on allergy shots in college!) It’s pretty necessary for me to have tissues placed throughout my apartment this time of year. Since I need to have tissues on display, I might as well choose boxes that integrate with my decor seamlessly, right?

One of the reasons I love Scotties Facial Tissues is because of the stylish box designs they come out with season after season. This Spring’s designs certainly did not disappoint; they’ve come out with a gorgeous collection of boxes that would suit anyone’s style. I added a pop of color to my fairly neutral bookcase by adding in a gorgeous blue floral watercolor box design that will certainly turn heads! You can also find these boxes in every one of my bathrooms, coffee table, office, and bedroom.

You can order Scotties Facial Tissues online at Amazon, or shop them in-store at your local Walmart. Pick up your favorite designs now before they sell out: I think the palm print box is going to fly off the shelves!

Bring the Outside In

The flowers are blooming, and plants are thriving outdoors — why not bring some of them indoors and make your space a bit more green?

Spring is the perfect time to bring in a few new plants. I’m going to be completely candid: since I travel quite often, having a ton of real plants isn’t in the cards for me. I picked up a few faux plants at Homegoods to liven up my space, and when I know I’m home for at least a week, I’ll pick up a real bouquet from Trader Joe’s to add to my bookcase.

Schedule a Deep Cleaning

In addition to decluttering your space, Spring is the perfect time to give your home a much-needed deep cleaning. Give the scuffed walls in your home a bit of TLC. Scrub your floors (or hire someone to do it!) Get your carpets cleaned. Clean your upholstered furniture. This Spring Cleaning Checklist can steer you in the right direction, and is something that Tom and I plan on tackling over the next few weeks!

Switch Up Your Throw Pillows & Linens

For your living room: think about your fabrics. Now would be a good time to switch out a few throw pillows, and opt for ones with lighter colors and textures. If you want more natural light to come through your space, consider adding a more sheer, breezy pair of curtains to one of your rooms. I typically wrap myself up in heavier throw blankets during the winter, but in the spring, I’ll rotate the heavier blankets out for lighter weight options (think: cotton or linen fabrics.) The possibilities are endless!

How do you spruce up your home for spring?
