Did you know that the first day of spring is tomorrow? Now that we’re ushering in a new season, it’s the perfect time to declutter your home and to do a bit of organizing with some Spring cleaning tips and tricks.

Since Tom and I are moving in a little less than two months, we’re spending most of our weekends purging. However, we’re still working from home, and I need to easily access my personal belongings, props for photoshoots, and other office supplies in the interim.

Today, I’m sharing a few tips and tricks on how to tidy up around the house for spring!

The Best Way to Purge Your Closet

When I’m doing a bit of spring cleaning, I always like to start with my closet first. This weekend, I’ll be transitioning my closet from winter to spring, and I personally think the best time to purge your closet is during transition months!

I’ve written about my closet purge process before, but since I have a tiny closet, I keep storage bins under my bed with out-of-season clothing items. When I switch my closet over to spring, I go through each piece one by one and decide if I want to keep, donate or consign the item. I usually get rid of 25-40% of my seasonal items because, to be completely candid, as a blogger, I’m gifted a lot of items, and I don’t have the room to keep everything. However, if something doesn’t fit, or if it doesn’t make me feel like a million bucks, then it’s gone!

Spring Cleaning Tips and Tricks With Walmart Pickup and Delivery

You know when you’re deep into spring cleaning mode, and you realize you need to upgrade your storage systems?

For me, it’s always been hard to get in the cleaning mood. If I feel up to it, I’ll drop whatever I’m doing and go on a cleaning frenzy. However, if I’m interrupted during that time, it takes me a while to get back in the tidying spirit!

I’ve been a member of Walmart+ for months now, and it’s a gamechanger. The membership feature that I use the most is their Pickup & Delivery Service. I love it because you can order groceries and household essentials for either pickup or delivery and receive your items in a matter of hours. As a busy, self-employed gal, I typically opt for delivery, and I love that they offer an Express Delivery option when I’m in a pinch.

I love these storage totes, in particular for spring cleaning. I ordered a few of these back in the fall, and they’re great for storing seasonal items. I put extra throw pillows, blankets, seasonal decor, and more in these! I also have these food storage containers in my pantry, and I use them to store flour, sugar, and rice.

*$35 minimum and small delivery fee apply. Pickup and Delivery available in select markets.

Put Away Off-Season Items & Add In Some Greenery for Spring

After Christmas, I take down most of my holiday items. However, I leave a few items like winter trees around the home for a bit of a cozy feel.

This time of year, I’ll swap out any remaining winter decor pieces and add in a bit more green to freshen up my space. Admittedly, I’m the queen of the faux plants since I don’t have much of a green thumb, but this is a great time to add plants into your space to make it feel a bit more seasonally appropriate!

Revamp Your Pantry

Why is it that your pantry ends up being a hot, unorganized mess?

I went from an apartment with no pantry in Philly to an apartment and home in Virginia with a pretty spacious one. Of course, the more space you have…, the more things you’ll bring in to fill that space!

When we moved into our house back in 2019, I was on a mission to get my pantry a little more under control. When Shelby featured these containers in her blog post that year, I knew I had to scoop them up. Now that we’ve been home a lot more, I’ve added a few more of these Better Homes & Gardens food containers to my pantry, and I’m loving how it’s coming together!
