Thank you to AVA Grace for partnering with me on today’s Self Care Sundays post! All thoughts and opinions are my own.

As much as I try to set office hours for myself, sometimes, as an entrepreneur, I end up working 7 days a week. Not to mention, it’s hard for me to stop working most evenings since I work from home: at times, I’ll find myself sending out emails and working on posts until 8 or 9:00 p.m. Yikes!
Because I have so much on my plate during the week, I like to use Sunday evenings as the time to wind down and get myself mentally prepared for the week. I don’t schedule any photoshoots, I don’t work on the blog, and I don’t attend any events: it’s simply Alicia time. Here are a few things I do to practice Self Care Sundays.
HOW I PRACTICE SELF CARE SUNDAYS
Make a Home-Cooked Meal…
I’m not at the point where I’m meal-prepping on Sunday nights like some of my friends do, but I do like to stay in on Sunday nights and either try out a new recipe or prepare one of my old favorite dishes. On the weekends, I tend to eat out with friends a lot, so it’s nice to stay in for one night and hone my culinary skills a bit!
…and Pair That Meal with a Great Wine
If you’re new here, you know that I enjoy wine quite a bit. Seriously, if I can go wine tasting near my home or when I’m traveling, I’m a happy girl. That’s why I always like to pair my home-cooked meal with a tasty wine during Self-Care Sundays. The folks at AVA Grace introduced me to their Rosé and Pinot Grigio varietals, and they’re both fantastic, accessible options for either a low key Sunday at home, or one of life’s special moments.
Both the Rosé and the Pinot Grigio will pair well with any light, summer dishes. I paired the fruity, floral rosé with some zucchini noodles, which made for a light and delicious dinner. I also love the fact that AVA Grace wines are typically under $10 (depending on where you live) — a great, affordable, yet sophisticated option for wine! If you want to pick up a bottle for yourself, you can check out their store locator to see where you can purchase AVA Grace wine locally.
Give My Skin a Detox
I’m not going to lie: I may or may not forget to remove my makeup a few times during the week. Also, sometimes after a super hectic weekend, my skin might start to look a bit dull. Every Sunday, I put on one of my favorite face masks so that I can give my skin a bit of a detox, and get back to my regular glow during the week.
Catch Up on my Favorite Shows
I usually attend media events in the evenings during the week, so it’s been nearly impossible for me to watch a TV show in real time over the last few years. However, I love putting my phone away on Self-Care Sundays and catching up on some of my favorite shows — whether it’s a reality TV guilty pleasure or a riveting drama.
Connect With My Friends and Family
After I’m done catching up on my favorite shows, I like to give my friends or family a buzz who live far away from me. I often set up Facetime/Skype dates on Sunday evenings and use that time to catch up with my loved ones that don’t live in the same state as I do. I try my best to keep in touch with the long-distance friends I have, and these Sunday night catch up sessions do the trick.
What about you? How do you practice self-care?
