I had some folks email/DM me, and ask for more wear-to-work looks to be featured on the blog. Your wish is my command! Workwear doesn’t have to be stuffy or boring, and I’m all about finding pieces that can transition from desk to drinks with ease.
Being a full-time blogger is pretty odd: I’m either working at home in yoga pants, or I’m dressed to the nines for an event or important meeting. I don’t really have much in-between! Most of my meetings take place in Washington, D.C., and I always like to err on the more conservative side whenever I’m meeting brands IRL in the District.

The last 9-5 job I had was pretty interesting: our office was pretty business casual (more so on the side of casual), but I did have to attend government conferences and cover them on social media 1-3 times a month. You definitely cannot roll into a government conference wearing a business casual ensemble: you have to bust out your nicest suits and work-friendly dresses for these events. I had to build up my business formal wardrobe fairly quick with this position!
I’ve been a fan of the workwear options at Express for years, for a number of reasons. For starters, their selection isn’t stuffy, and it’s super adorable. I love mixing and matching all of the separates they have to offer to create a look that matches my personal style to a T. Second, the price point is incredibly attainable. I’ve been shopping at Express since college (when I had a very modest budget!), and I love that I’ve been able to grow up with this brand. I also like that these pieces will last you for years, just like this plaid suit!
Ladies and gentlemen: let me introduce you to my power suit for all of my fall meetings. You all should know by now that I love a good print, and I couldn’t pass up this incredible plaid suit from Express. I love the slightly oversized fit of this blazer; it looks fantastic paired with the matching skirt, or on the weekends with a t-shirt and jeans. I’m very entirely aware that this skirt might be a bit too short for some offices out there — so I’d suggest pairing the blazer with these matching plaid tie-waist pants for a fashion-forward office ensemble. I’m also obsessed with the Downtown Cami from Express as well — they come in multiple colors and are the perfect layering piece year-round. I feel comfortable wearing this suit out for a meeting, and later on into the evening at happy hour.
