Bikini Top and Bottom | Swan Pool Float | Similar Sunhat
Ah, summer: Mother Nature finally decided to bestow upon us the scorching temperatures and unbearable humidity here on the East Coast! After a few weeks of weird rainy, cold weather, we finally got the normal June temperatures we’re accustomed to, which means it’s time to head to the pool!
I now live only a few blocks away from a pool, and I’m super stoked about it! Here’s what I keep in my pool day bag to make sure I can not only enjoy myself while at the pool, but also transition back to “real life” smoothly!
A Towel (Or Two!)
You wouldn’t believe how many of my friends forget their towels when going to the pool! The pool near me will rent one out for $5 if you forget yours, but personally I’d prefer to keep my money and bring my own! Think about all the snacks you could by with that $5 you saved. I actually bring a spare towel along as well just in case one of my friend forgets theirs (99.9% of the time, this is usually the case!)
Reading Material
Because let’s face it: you’re not going to actually spend all of your time in the pool! I love summer because I read way more often than I normally would. If I’m at the pool solo, I can really use that time to knock out one of my summer reads.
Sunscreen
Can I be honest here? I’ve never had a sunburn, so I used to be pretty horrible with putting on sunscreen. However, just because I’m not getting burned, doesn’t mean the sun isn’t wreaking havoc on my skin! I have a tendency to get dark spots if I don’t wear sunscreen, and I definitely want to prevent any signs of aging, so I always carry one with me.
Pool Float
Some pools don’t allow this, but for the pools that do, a big ol’ float will just add to your experience! So far I have a pizza float, a swan float, drink floats…the possibilities are endless!
Extra Underwear + A Plastic Bag
This is what I personally forget the most! I personally dislike staying in my bathing suit after I’m finished at the pool, so I like to change into a fresh pair out underwear and put my suit in a plastic bag — so it doesn’t get all of my other belongings wet! This is great if you want to run errands , or meet up with friends for lunch/dinne rafter the pool.
A Solid Deodorant
Welp, after splashing around in a pool for an hour, you’ll definitely need to reapply some deodorant if you’re headed straight from the pool to another event! It is super, super key to freshen up before heading back out the the real world! I personally like to stick the Secret Clinical Strength Deodorant in my pool bag. It offers superior sweat and odor protection in two distinct forms, and provides 2x the sweat protection vs. an ordinary antiperspirant. I put it on before and after the pool for extra coverage — because who wants unwanted sweat to ruin a fun day at the pool?
What do you carry in your pool bag?

I’m constantly getting burnt. I wish I didn’t get burnt. What’s your favorite sunscreen? I’ve been looking for a new one.
