Do you ever look back at your teenage years and just cringe and your decisions? If you don’t, I probably don’t trust you.

I made a lot of stupid choices as a teen (and mom, since I know you’re reading this — forever sorry about that house party I threw). One of the biggest mistakes I made? Avoiding the turtleneck fashion.

I grew up right outside of D.C. in the ‘burbs, but since I always had a car growing up and I never had to walk outside for prolonged periods of time, I never bothered to invest in heavy-duty winter clothing. My freshman year in college, though? I regretted all of my winter fashion choices. Who knew that a pair of sneakers wasn’t going to keep you warm in 25-degree weather? After my first semester at college, I put a crazy amount of boots and sweaters on my Christmas list, because 18-year-old Alicia had no clue how to dress for winter. It was quite a learning curve, y’all!

When I was in college, I slowly but surely started to love the turtleneck fashion. Once I graduated, I developed more of an obsession. And this year, with the insane weather, it’s an absolute necessity. I fell in love with this cropped pom pom turtleneck sweater the minute that I saw it; I knew it had to be mine. Even though I’m trying to wear jeans less in the winter, sometimes it is too cold out to rock anything but pants and an oversized sweater. I like that this option is cropped and looks great with a pair of high waisted jeans and a maxi coat
