Casual Winter Uniform:
Ah, January: now that I work from home and I don’t have any real reason to leave my house in the winter, any motivation to look cute can be pretty nonexistent.
Last year, at this time, I felt like I was either in yoga pants at home, or all dolled up for media events or outings with friends — and I didn’t have many solid casual winter uniform that I felt confident in. I slowly but surely started to build up my casual wardrobe a bit more, and this winter I’m trying to make more of an effort to venture out to a coffee shop to work, or take more in-person meetings just so that I can put myself together and get out of the house during office hours. Anyone else feel that work from home struggle?
Luckily, if I’m having meetings with PR firms and other businesses, I can dress more so on the casual side. Even though Who What Wear said cropped flares were out for 2019, I still adore my Mother jeans and like the way they pair with ankle booties. It’s a bit of a twist from the typical skinny jeans or leggings that we all seem to gravitate towards in the winter! I also plan on picking up a pair of Madewell’s demi-boot jeans since I gained weight over the past year and don’t fit into most of my jean collection at the moment.
I also picked up this cable mockneck sweater from Everlane over the holidays, and it’s one of my new favorite pieces (I seriously wear this once a week!) It’s super versatile, classic and is one of the most comfortable sweaters that I own. If you’re looking for a sweater that’s cozy and isn’t itchy, Everlane has a pretty solid selection right now!
Lastly: I’ll top the look off with a bold coat. I only own one black coat because I think they’re pretty drab, and I always try to select outerwear that has a bold color or print (or both!) Currently I’m renting this gorgeous plaid maxi coat from Rent the Runway, but it’s also on sale at Nordstrom at the moment. I’ve been holding on to this for a few weeks, and will be pretty sad when the day comes that I have to return it!
