I’ve teased this on my Instagram Stories over the past few months, but I’m in the process of revamping our master bedroom. After redecorating our Master Bathroom this summer, I felt majorly inspired to add a bit more color in my home since I’m spending a lot more time here nowadays!  So today I wanted to share with you my master bedroom preview.

I decided to team up with Shannon Claire Interiors for this project. My room reveal is a bit delayed due to COVID-related shipping issues, but we’ve gotten quite a bit done over the past couple of months! Today, I’m sharing a little update of our master bedroom, what pieces we’re either waiting on and what we’re assembling and placing in our space next.

Master Bedroom: Before

We’ve lived in this house for about 1.5 years now, and I never attempted to decorate this room. I upgraded to a King Size bed since this room was massive, and Tom and I desperately needed a little more space than my full bed provided us.

I put all of my old bedroom furniture in our guest room and started from scratch with the new bedroom. The problem was, everything was either white or grey and super bland. White walls. White duvet cover. Light carpet. Light headboard. White nightstands. I know some people are into the super neutral home decor, but it wasn’t the move for me.

My goal in this space was that I wanted to add more color and texture. I wanted it to feel a bit homier and reflect a little more of my style and personality.

Master Bedroom Update: Painting

One thing that I spoke with Shannon about? I desperately wanted to paint an accent wall. She recommended Sherwin Williams’ Rosemary, which is a beautiful muted green color. It makes my bed pop, and honestly, it makes me far, far happier. We ended up painting this wall on our own. It was fairly easy to paint, and we only needed two coats. We weren’t perfect, and we still need to touch up a few spots on the other walls, but all in all, I’m proud of what we were able to accomplish!

Master Bedroom Update: Furniture & Decor

I knew I wanted to swap out for another bed as well. After living with a tufted headboard for 5+ years, I was ready for something new.

If you’ve followed me for a while, you know that I love Minted art. I’ve had Minted pieces in every single home and apartment that I’ve lived in for the past 6 years (see here and here). They’re stunning, very well made, and I love how many frame options they have. The Minted team was kind enough to gift me this print: I opted for the 30×40” size in a matte copper frame.

Shannon recommended this gorgeous, boho-chic bed for me to try, and I love it. Not only is it stylish, but it is functional as well. This bed is high enough to store under the bed storage boxes underneath it, which I really enjoy since I keep my off-season clothes underneath my bed.

Shannon also recommended pillows from Tonic Living and a throw blanket made in Morocco, which I also loved.  We’re still waiting for a few more pieces to be delivered, so I can’t give you a full reveal just yet, but I’m excited to show you the result in the next month or so! I’m linking a few of the other items we’ve ordered below to give you a sneak peek.
