Olay Whips Moisturizer Review - Everyday Makeup in Less Than 10 Minutes by popular Washington DC style blogger Alicia Tenise

Real talk: I am not a morning person. I’ve tried so hard to be one of those people who are bright-eyed and alert in the wee hours of the AM, but alas, that is not me.

Since I usually hit snooze approximately 12 times each morning (sorry to all of my college roommates), I’ve had to get creative over the years and find ways to speed up my morning routine. I found that I was spending way too long on my everyday makeup — and that was one routine that I needed to abbreviate ASAP!

Lately, I’ve been catching super early trains to NYC to head to the city for meetings for the day, and I’ve had to put on a full face of makeup at 5 am. Yikes. Here are a few tips and tricks to cut down on your everyday makeup routine in the morning!

Keep Your Everyday Makeup Organized

When I moved to my new apartment, I completely forgot that I had a pedestal sink and zero countertop space to store anything other than my toothbrushes and a soap dispenser. It took me a few months to configure all of my beauty products in my apartment, but I’m pretty happy with my organization method at the moment! I scooped a super affordable acrylic organizer that helps me see all of my makeup at once, and stores all of the palettes I’ve collected over time with ease!

Find a Moisturizer that Doubles as a Primer

Ok, so who has spent countless amounts of dollars finding the right primer for them? I have combination skin, so most of the primers I used either dried out my cheeks or didn’t mattify my t-zone — the struggle was real!

I was introduced to Olay Luminous Whip right after the holidays, which is one of their newest moisturizers to hit stores. This moisturizer has so many amazing benefits, and it quickly became one of my favorites! My skin tends to look a little dull in the winter, and I love how the Whips moisturizer absorbs oils in your skin throughout the day for a dewy finish. This is a great way to get your summer glow back! It also instantly absorbs into the skin, so I don’t have to wait for it to dry before I apply makeup.

There are three different types of Whips moisturizers. However, I opted for the Olay Luminous Whip for my skin concerns. My pores are often congested, and this product evens my skin tone and minimizes the look of pores. Skipping the primer and opting for this moisturizer has saved me some time in the morning! Want to try it yourself? You can pick up Olay Whips at your local Wal-Mart.

Do Your Eye Makeup First

I used to put on my foundation, concealer and setting powder first before one of my favorite makeup artists told me this was a big no-no! Eye makeup can be messy, and between applying eyeshadow, eyeliner, and mascara, it’s easy to “draw outside the lines” and get eye makeup on other parts of your face. I like to do my eye makeup first, then cover up any mishaps with my foundation and concealer to cut a minute or two off my morning everyday makeup routine.

Have a Plan

Listen: it’s ok to have a signature look. I know that I like to keep my eyes lighter and go for a bold lip. I also am the worst at contouring, so this is something I skip altogether. I’ll switch up the colors I use in my eyeshadow palette daily, but I typically stick to a neutral color palette for the eyes to keep things moving along in the AM!
