My Honest Thoughts on Retinol

Have you ever tried skincare products with retinol in them?

I’ve heard a lot of hype about retinol over the last few years: it is the #1 most searched skincare ingredient on Google at the moment, and it is highly recommended by dermatologists. Despite all of the buzz, I still was a bit wary of trying out retinol for myself. I heard mixed reviews on it, and the price tag of most retinol products scared me away.

My friends over at Olay asked if I wanted to try out their new Retinol24 collection, and I knew this was the perfect time to try a retinoid. I’ve used Olay products for years, and I’ve always loved my results. Plus, these products are all incredibly affordable!

OLAY RETINOL EYE CREAM REVIEW:

Over the last four weeks, I tried out Olay’s Retinol24 Night Eye Cream, Night Moisturizer, and Night Serum. I’ve been traveling nonstop over the past month, so I knew it would be a great time to try these products out. My skin needed a little extra TLC after all of the plane rides and being in different climates! I even brought this trio of products to Spain with me a couple of weeks ago, so they’ve already traveled across the pond with me as well.

I thought all of the products were fantastic, but you don’t have to use all three as a regimen. In my opinion, if you only were able to try one of the products from this line, I’d go with the Olay Retinol24 Eye Cream.

OLAY Retinol Eye Cream: Why The Hype?

Why is everyone buzzing about retinol, you ask?

Retinol is incredibly potent, and it can be a complete game-changer for you. Whether you’re looking to boost hydration, reduce the appearance of fine lines and/or wrinkles, or smooth out your skin, it can work wonders for you.

Being a blogger who’s in her late 20’s, I get a lot of anti-aging products sent my way. This is fine, but honestly? Anti-aging isn’t my only skincare concern. Since I travel a lot, I want products that can give me a boost of hydration when I need it. I still get occasional breakouts/a bit of hormonal acne, and I want products that will also help keep my skin clear. I was pretty intrigued by the idea of retinol since it can address several skincare concerns.

OLAY Retinol Eye Cream: How to Use

I’m not going to sugarcoat it: retinol is pretty potent, and a little bit of it goes a long way.

I apply the Olay Retinol24 Eye Cream right after I cleanse in the evenings only. You only need to use this once a day: I’ll apply an eye cream without retinol in the mornings!

I feel like this eye cream goes on a bit thick, so you only need to apply a small drop on your fingertips. I like to use my ring or middle finger to apply the cream very gently.

OLAY Retinol Eye Cream: The Results

October was a super heavy travel month for me. I had a cross country flight, a transatlantic flight, and a whole bunch of road trips in between.

With all of that travel, I wasn’t getting the best quality of sleep. After all, can anyone really sleep on a long flight? Even though I was a bit sleep-deprived last month, I wanted to make sure my eyes looked as awake and refreshed as possible.

I was thrilled with my results using the Olay Retinol24 Eye Cream. My eye area appeared brighter, smoother, and felt firmer, despite all of the traveling. I made sure to use this product religiously, no matter how jet-lagged I was. And yes, I even used it on our flight to Europe a few weeks ago! While it is potent, I didn’t find it to be greasy, and I also loved that it was fragrance-free.

All in all, this OLAY retinol eye cream is a game-changer. I’m thankful that I have it now that we’re going into the busiest season of the year: the holidays!
