So, NYFW was officially over a month ago. And I’m *just* getting around to posting my recap of days 3 and 4. Sorry guys. I’m so sorry. I’ve been a busy gal, what can I say? ICYMI, you can catch my recap of Days 1 and 2 here.
Days 3 and 4 were certainly the most jam-packed of the week. I started off that Sunday thinking I would just have a leisurely blogger brunch, do some shopping and catch some football games. Wrong. So wrong. It ended up being the second craziest day, aside from Day 4. Anyway, I won’t blab too much — here’s the craziness of my last two days at NYFW!
Day 3
11:00am: I meet with some of my blogger friends at Sotto 13 in West Village for brunch: pro tip, I highly recommend this place for brunch! A huge thank you to Dana for the recommendation. It’s an Italian restaurant that has a “family style” brunch menu which was fantastic for brunch. The next time I’m in NYC, I think I need to go again!
2:00pm: We headed back over to Meatpacking for the Erin Fetherston show. I loved this collection’s boho-chic vibe: it was still incredibly feminine and glam, but I loved the flowy silhouettes and the unexpected use of denim in the collection; it made it seem a little more laid back and approachable. I was also pleasantly surprised to see so many sequins and metallics in a spring collection; typically I spot those fabrics during the holiday season, but I personally approve of rocking these luxe fabrics year-round.
4:00pm: Ok, guys. I might have died and gone to fashion heaven at the Jenny Packham show. It was hands down my favorite show of the entire week! I was a huge fan of the details of this collection, and how every single piece was embellished to perfection. This collection had every single type of texture I could ever ask for: lace, chiffon, pleated silk, you name it, this collection brought it. Ob-sessed.
…and what did I do for the rest of the day? I watched NFL with some of my D.C. blogger babes, and headed to the Erin Fetherston afterparty downtown to close the evening.
Day 4
…so ironically, this is the day I did the most and had the least amount of photos? Whoops!
8:00am: Folks, that’s not a typo — somehow I managed to pull myself out of bed for an early breakfast with the Rent the Runway PR and Social Media team. They are seriously one of my favorite companies to partner with on the blog, so it was amazing to get some one-on-one time with them!
10:00am: Julien and I shot around Sofitel, and we also met up with our favorite D.C. photog, Jen Eun, to shoot all the outfits we wore over the week but didn’t have time to shoot. We did a marathon session, and powered through so many looks in such a short amount of time! Well, kind of short. Julien and I both ended up running a tad late to our next show…
3:00pm: Let’s be honest: Julien and I didn’t get to Leanne Marshall until around 3:30. We had to hop out of the cab and run about 7 blocks to the show. I had to stand in the photographer’s pit because I was so late, but honestly? I got *the* best shots that way! Leanne Marshall’s collection was so elegant and dreamy, and I’m pretty sure that finale dress was on my mind for several days after the show.
5:00pm: I roll over to the Sherri Hill show with a few of my D.C. blogger babes. I also run into my hero, Simone Biles, at the show, and I’m not gonna lie: I completely fangirled and asked her for a photo afterwards! She’s so adorable and small in person. Sherri Hill was 17-year-old Alicia’s dream show: the most dramatic and daring gowns fit for any prom queen or Miss USA hopeful!
6:00pm: We roll over to the LiketoKnow. It party right after the show. It was awesome meeting so many bloggers who are a part of the rS community in one spot, and also meeting one of my OG favorite bloggers Courtney Kerr. She was so nice in person, and super stunning!
9:00pm: We wrap up NYFW with the Bloglovin’ Awards, and I continued to fangirl over some of my favorite bloggers. Seriously, being in the same room as The Blonde Salad, The Chriselle Factor and Damsel in Dior? So much inspiration in one place!
Overall Trends
Yellow was pretty major on the runways: I loved seeing it on Erin Fetherston’s catwalk among many, and I can’t wait to scoop up this dreamy shade left and right next spring. Cut outs were also something I spotted a lot on days 3 and 4, particularly at the Jenny Packham show. Whether it was an exposed shoulder, midriff, or even a little leg — I’d highly recommend experimenting with cut outs next season!
