Earlier this month, I headed back to the Big Apple for another New York Fashion Week experience. In the past, I’ve stayed for 4-5 days. However, I only had time to make a quick 2.5-day trip this season due to other travel plans (looking at you, Disney World!)
While my trip was a bit short this season, I still packed in as much as humanly possible. Here’s my take on some of the trends I spotted at NYFW this season!

Backstage with Aveda – NYFW FW 2018
The folks over at Aveda invited me to go backstage at a couple of shows this season: Priscavera and Tibi. This was the first time I’ve been backstage at NYFW since my PR intern days in college, and it was refreshing to be a third party observing the process this time around. While I was at the Tibi show, we got to see the lead stylist, Frank Rizzieri, in action. The hero product of the Tibi show was Aveda’s Texture Tonic — according to Rizzieri, the Texture Tonic works great on a variety of hair textures, and it will help you achieve a cool girl, “done undone” look.
I also had the chance to attend Aveda’s afterparty, where I got to try out a few new products. I loved their ‘Feed My Lips’ nourishing lipstick; the shades they offer are stunning, and I was impressed with how long it lasted!

NYFW FW 2018 — The Shows
Can I be candid? Most of the time I go to shows, I have a standing ticket. I’m cool with this because I know I’m not a prominent editor or mega-influencer — I’m just happy to attend and cover the shows. Unfortunately, I had a difficult time photographing the shows this year due to the crowds, but I did manage to get a few decent shots this time around.
While I was in NYC, I was able to attend the Pamella Roland, Noon by Noor, Christian Cowan, Misha Kaura, Tibi and Leanne Marshall shows. One major trend I spotted on the runways? Sequins. Everywhere. The runways looked like a big ol’ party this season! I also spotted a ton of metallics (the metallic skirts at Tibi paired with the chunky sweaters were to die for) and a lot of pieces that looked like they could be straight out of the 80s. This was probably the most extra NYFW I’ve seen to date — and I am here for it.

NYFW FW 2018 — What I Wore
I guess I have a thing for blush coats this year, huh? I’m still recovering from a knee injury at the moment, so I had to wear all flats this year. To be honest, I was not upset about this at all — my days were jam-packed, and even if I didn’t have a bum knee, I’d probably be miserable in heels!
