Hosting a New Years Eve Party with IKEA

One of my favorite holidays is right around the corner: New Year’s Eve! I love spending this holiday with my best friends and loved ones and ringing in the new year in some of my finest attire.

Are you thinking of hosting your own New Years Eve party this year? Decorating your space isn’t a super daunting task, and you don’t need to break the bank to update your space for a New Year’s shindig. Here are a few decorating tips and tricks with a few of my favorite winter finds from IKEA this season!

New Years Eve Party Decor – Reuse Your Christmas Decor

There’s no need to entirely ditch your holiday decor while preparing to host a New Year’s gig — I leave my tree up until New Year’s Day, and I incorporate some of my favorite holiday pieces while decorating for New Year’s. I picked up these snowflake ornaments from IKEA last year but decided to not put them on my tree this year, so I opted to use them to decorate my console and add a little more shimmer. A few other great holiday pieces I found from IKEA that will also work for New Years are their VINTER 2017 pieces: this tray, napkin set, and candle set from the collection have the perfect metallic accents that will transition from Christmas to New Years Eve with ease. You really could have this decor out all winter long if you wished!

New Years Eve Party Decor – Add a Few Bright + Metallic Accents

New Year’s Eve is one of the only times a year where glittery, bright home decor is acceptable, so I’d make the most of it! I’m always a big fan of mixing both gold and silver accents on this holiday — don’t worry, they won’t clash when paired together! I loved the VINTER 2017 candles and how they had metallic silver accents on them — also, another bonus? They’re unscented, so you don’t have to worry about any allergies your guests might have. I also added a battery powered light chain to my Pop Fizz Clink sign to add a little extra sparkle to my console!

Why IKEA is Perfect for Large Parties

One reason I love IKEA for entertaining? You can purchase all of the party supplies you need without breaking the bank! I’ve had their SVALKA Champagne Flutes for years, and they’re impressive quality for the price! It only costs $4.99 for a 6-pack of these flutes, so it’s super easy to stock up on as many glasses as you need! This is a lot better of an alternative than some of the plastic flutes I’ve used at parties in the past; they’re super durable, but if anything were to happen to one of the glasses during the evening, it is super budget-friendly to replace one of them!

New Years Eve Party Decor – Don’t Be Afraid of Reusing Items

It always helps to be creative when entertaining. My store didn’t have a champagne tray available, so I decided to use this POMP vase instead to chill my champagne throughout the evening. It’s technically a vase/candle holder, and it’s a great, inexpensive way to get multiple uses out of a single item.

Instead of using this VINTER 2017 dish towel for cleaning up around the sink, I added it under my MYNDIG side plate as a way to both protect my console, and add a little color contrast between the console and plate as well.

  8. I love IKEA! The nearest stores are both about 4 hours away from me. So sad, but I still manage to go every now and then. I love the gold!

I honestly never think of Ikea for decor, and usually only consider them for furniture (andddd DIY projects on Pinterest!) But all of this is super cute, and I’m definitely going to my Ikea soon!
