Bar Cart Ideas:

Ah, New Year’s Eve: I might be in the minority here, but it is one of my favorite holidays. We usually never do anything too grand (except this year we have dinner reservations at an incredible French restaurant in town). Most years we just celebrate at one of our friend’s houses. I made the mistake of venturing out into D.C. for an open bar a few times in my early twenties, and I now know that is a horrendous option — those open bars have way too many people, too much drama, and they’re incredibly overpriced. Even if I’m celebrating at a house party or at a dinner, I always use it as an excuse to dress to the nines and drink some bubbly!

If you’re celebrating at home this year, here’s a super easy bar cart ideas to jazz up your bar cart and make your space more festive!

I bought my bar cart for the first apartment that I moved into after I graduated from college, and have been styling it ever since. I’m not going to lie: it doesn’t have a “proper” home in my new place, and it sits in a hallway near my master bedroom right now, but I still love to decorate it every season and bust it out for special occasions. It rolls around, so I can move it to wherever it’s convenient.

We have a spare bedroom that no one really needs to access during parties, so we decided to add a door curtain in front of the spare bedroom door and provide a space for our bar cart while entertaining. I also finally picked up a ~grown up~ ice bucket from Pottery Barn so we can chill our champagne in style (last year, I had an IKEA vase serving as an ice bucket, which wasn’t a bad idea for a gal on a budget!)

My two favorite things to pair with champagne? Sweets and oysters! I opted for the former since I didn’t quite have the budget for oysters this year. If you live near a Duck Donuts, they have some pretty delicious holiday-flavored donuts that would be the perfect addition, and we grabbed some mint chocolate cookies and pistachios from Trader Joe’s.

We picked up most of the party supplies from our local party store (they have a ridiculously good selection, and it’s always good to shop local!) I am in love with the air-filled, non-floating 2019 balloons we got: you can set up your party early, and don’t have to worry about anything deflating. We used twine to hang these balloons up as a fun banner, and this would make for a fun photo backdrop if you want to move the bar cart!

I hope you enjoyed these bar cart ideas! Happy New Year’s, my friends! Stay safe!
