The Best Breathable Masks for Summer

A few days ago, the CDC called on all Americans to wear masks to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Two hairstylists in a Missouri hair salon had COVID-19, but wore masks and prevented 139 of their clients from getting sick. I know we’re all eager to get back to “normal,” and wearing a mask is the best thing you can do for our country and economy right now.

I’m not going to lie: I purchased some thick, uncomfortable masks at the beginning of quarantine, and I did not like them. I have asthma, and the types of masks I had weren’t working well in the heat and humidity. Now that it’s easier to get a mask and there are so many options out there, I tried a few different kinds of masks and found a ton of breathable and stylish options.

First things first: let’s chat about the functional masks out there. These are going to be basic, yet breathable, and your best bet if you want to be active outdoors this summer.

Tom and I both love the Athleta masks. They’re 5 for $30, come in neutral colors, and probably the most breathable mask I have. Plus, they have adjustable, elastic straps and a wire nose bridge so you can get a snug fit. I’d recommend ordering online for an in-store pickup if you want the masks sooner rather than later!

I also adore the Casetify masks as well. They have interchangeable filters, and if you buy a mask, they’ll donate another to a healthcare worker.

I’ve also been having fun with matching masks to my outfit lately. You can wear a mask, but also make it fashion!
