Fun fact about me? I got my first pair of glasses when I was six years old. Both of my parents wear glasses, so it was inevitable that I would need them as well!

When I was 13, I decided to start wearing contact lenses — and I’m not going to lie, for the longest time I thought glasses made me look a bit dorky. Teenagers are the worst, right? However, as I got older, I realized that the right pair of glasses could make a fashion statement.

I started blogging full-time 2.5 years ago, and now that I work from home, there’s no reason for me to wear my contacts daily. In fact, after I picked up a pair of glasses with blue light lenses, from LensCrafters, I preferred to wear those in the office rather than my contacts to prevent eye strain. I started to appreciate my glasses a lot more, and my collection of frames began to grow. From a classic tortoiseshell pair to a funky set of clear frames, I now consider glasses to be a fun accessory along with being an item I have to wear in order to see clearly.

A few weeks ago, I was due for my annual eye exam. I partnered with the newly opened LensCrafters in Arlington’s Ballston Quarter to get an exam and a new pair of glasses at the new location. Overall, I loved the experience, I thought their staff was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, and I loved the stylish, designer frame options they carried!

Lenscrafters Arlington: the Clarifye Eye Exam:

What I loved about LensCrafters’ digital eye exam, Clarifye, is that for the first time in my life, I got a super detailed report of my overall eye health, rather than going in and simply getting an updated prescription. Clarifye is a total gamechanger. It’s incredibly precise and can give your doctor a digital fingerprint of your eye and pinpoints the small changes that can occur in your eyes over time. My doctor told me that overall, my eyes were in great shape, however, advised me of potential vision issues that I would need to check on in the future as I get older.

Picking Out My New Glasses from Lenscrafters:

After my eye exam, I headed over to browse the selection of frames. I loved that they had so many stylish, designer frames to choose from! LensCrafters also has an app called MyLook, where you can take photos of yourself wearing different frames to see how they compare side by side on the iPad. With the help of a very friendly and knowledgeable sales associate, I opted for a Dolce & Gabbana pair. I made sure to get blue light filter lenses to help combat eye strain, and I also opted for the extended warranty, because let’s face it: I travel a lot, and sometimes things happen!

My experience at LensCrafters was – quite literally – eye-opening. What I learned is that even if you don’t think you are experiencing vision problems, an annual eye exam is the best way to make sure your eye health stays in top shape. For those who are in fact looking for a new pair of glasses for fall, it’s a total bonus that LensCrafters has an impressive selection and options that will make the whole family happy.
