Fun fact: I’ve been 5’7″ ever since I was 12 years old. For the longest time I towered over everyone. I know that 5’7″ isn’t super tall for an adult female, but for an awkward 6th grader I was basically Shaquille O’Neal. I’m a little disappointed I didn’t end up being 5’11” like my doctors projected, but I won’t get into that. I was the lankiest hot mess growing up. I had limbs flailing everywhere and it wasn’t pretty, y’all. The worst part about having long limbs is everything looking incredibly short on you. Hence why I’ve never been *super* into the idea of shorts. My middle school administrator will always be in the back of my head yelling at me for the length of my shorts. I normally stick to dresses and skirts in the summer.

I’m really trying to mix things up this season, and first on the list was to overcome my phobia of short shorts. I really like this printed pair from J.Crew Factory because they’re not too terribly short on my long legs. Even Mama Chew approved of these babies (hi mom, I’m sure you’re reading this). I might have to pick up a few more pairs of these to get me through the season!

LOL I had to laugh at this post. I had the same issue — I’ve been 5’6″ since 7th grade and never grew taller. I remember in middle school my best friend & I were wearing the same exact skirt (same length, everything)… I got in trouble & she didn’t because my legs & arms were so much longer. FYI – I found some really great short, but not too revealing, shorts at Gap last year (they have a 4-inch inseam). — SC at http://www.samanthachic.com

  4. I love this look Alicia! The blue in the shorts really shine paired with your denim jacket! Unfortunately I never had the “shorts too short” problem, but quite the opposite with my 5’0″ frame… I was always having to roll up my shorts or my pants or else I looked like I really was an 80’s baby, even when it wasnt the 80’s anymore!
