Ahhh: the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. It’s coming!
I’m sure you’ve seen every blogger and their mother talk about this sale year after year. But, if you’re unfamiliar with the sale, let me break it down for you. Most retailers have a big sale at the end of the season, but not Nordstrom. During the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, you can purchase brand new fall items for a huge discount. Clothing, shoes, accessories, beauty, home decor…you name it! However, it’s for a limited time only.
I’ve been shopping the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale for about five years now. But do I think it’s worth it?
Everything you Need to Know about the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale
Is the Nordstrom Sale Worth It?
The short answer is yes.
I’m not gonna lie, this sale can be a bit overwhelming, and as a blogger, I’ve definitely made some impulse buys in the past that ended up collecting dust in my closet. On the flip side, some of my NSale purchases have ended up becoming some of my most worn pieces in my closet (i.e. my Nike sneakers + Rebecca Minkoff handbags).
I think the sale is definitely worth it. Especially if you make a gameplan and think about what items you really need in your closet. If a trendier item jumps out at you, go for it. However, I like to use the sale as a way to get basics and investment pieces for less!
What Pieces to Shop For
Real talk: the sale can be a bit overwhelming, and items sell out pretty fast.
When I’m shopping the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, the top three categories that I check out first are denim, shoes, and handbags. I’m a bit of a denim snob and I’m super picky about my jeans. But I’ve been able to get some of my favorite denim brands on sale in the past (ex. Paige and Madewell). For shoes, I usually try to buy at least one new pair of boots during the sale, because I end up living in them all fall/winter long. I love Rebecca Minkoff bags as well, and she usually makes an exclusive design for the sale every year.
Another tip? Search by the brands that you love. Madewell and Free People are two of the go-to brands that I’m familiar with; and I know I’ll wear their pieces time and time again.
Also, don’t forget to make a list of what you actually need. Home, beauty and men’s items don’t sell out as fast. So there’s no rush to shop those items on the first few days of the sale. We’re moving into a new house in a few weeks, so I’m definitely going to check out the decor offerings later on in the month!

Is the Nordstrom Card Worth It?
Having early access to the sale is game-changing: a lot of products sell out before they go on sale to the general public, so it’s good to be one step ahead of the curve.
I got a Nordstrom Debit card about 4 years ago, mainly because of the Anniversary Sale. Unfortunately, they don’t offer debit cards anymore, which is a shame: it’s convenient, it’s linked to my bank account, and there’s no interest/fees/etc. Plus, I still get the perks of being a cardholder!
Nordstrom currently offers three different credit cards: Visa Signature®, Visa Platinum®, and Nordstrom Retail. With the Visa cards, you can use the credit card outside of the store, and earn points for every purchase. With the Nordstrom Retail card, you would be limited to purchases at Nordstrom.
Just FYI: the interest rate on the Nordstrom Retail card is super high (25.15%). If you think you could reasonably pay off your balance every month, then go for it. If not, I don’t think it’s worth getting yourself into debt!
I Promise: I Won’t Shove this Sale Down Your Throat
I genuinely enjoy shopping this sale…along with thousands of other influencers in the blogosphere. (Side note: yup, this probably means I’m #basic)
I’m not going to bombard you with daily try-ons on IG Stories, or five million blog posts. I plan on posting about the sale a few times to share my finds and honest thoughts. If you’re just not that interested in this sale, don’t worry: I plan on sharing my other fashion, lifestyle and travel finds with you over the next few weeks!
