While I love being self-employed, working from home isn’t always easy.
Sometimes, I’m super productive at home and can knock out tasks on my to-do list with ease. Other times, I get easily distracted and am unable to complete all the tasks I need to. Working for myself for the past 2.5 years has also taken a toll on me mentally, and I often find myself craving more social interaction during the workday. Which is why I love the co-working concept Industrious Alexandria, VA offers.
Whenever I’d work out of a coffee shop, I found that I was way more productive. However, that isn’t always an ideal setup. Sometimes I’d venture out to a coffee shop only to find that there were no seats available, or that all the outlets were taken up. I remember one day when I had to travel to four different coffee shops before I found one with enough seating and an available outlet! Parking downtown is also a nightmare, and I would have to move my car every couple of hours if I opted for street parking. I also rarely had any social interaction at coffee shops either, aside from ordering from a barista.
When the folks over art Industrious asked if I wanted to set up shop at their new Alexandria location, I knew I had to jump at the chance. Industrious offers shared office and co-working spaces for entrepreneurs and small businesses. I’ve tried out several coworking spaces during my blogging career, and Industrious is one of a kind: I love how upscale, yet approachable the space is, and how they bring their community together.

Industrious Alexandria, VA
The Space & Location
Industrious has office locations across the country, and several locations in the D.C. area to choose from: Downtown D.C., Bethesda, Arlington, Tysons, and Alexandria. I opted to join their new Alexandria location because it was closest to my house.
Industrious Alexandria is located right across from the Eisenhower Avenue Metro Station in Alexandria, VA. Once the Yellow Line is back up and running, this location is going to be ideal! There’s ample parking in the area, and there are also several restaurants and shops right next to the building, and it’s super convenient to grab food or run errands during the workday.
This is not your average office space: the decor is chic and modern, yet minimal. I loved how much natural light the office had; it was completely different than the office spaces I’ve previously worked in that were plagued with fluorescent lighting, and it was a total mood booster to have so much sunlight peeking into my office!
This office has several common spaces for coworkers to work out of, conference rooms that you can reserve, private phone rooms to take calls in, and even a wellness room if you need a private moment during the workday.
Co-working & Office Options
The best part about Industrious Alexandria? They offer different monthly membership plans to suit your business needs.
You can opt for either a community membership, which would give you access to the common spaces and all of the amenities that the office has to offer, or you can get a private office, which is what I opted for. They have three different office sizes to choose from: small, medium, and large. I opted for a small office, which is pictured above. There was enough room to comfortably fit two people, which was great when Tom and I were working on a project together. If you have a larger team, a medium or large office would be ideal for you!

Amenities
What I loved the most about Industrious Alexandria was all of the fabulous amenities they had to offer!
For starters, you’ll always have access to snacks and coffee: they have a community fridge that is stocked full of community snacks, and they have sparkling water and coffee you can grab and go at any hour. In the afternoons, their team would lay out an assortment of snacks in the common space for members. This was my favorite time of day because it also gave me the opportunity to mingle and socialize with some of the other Industrious members.
Industrious Alexandria also has several conference rooms that members can book as well. You receive a certain amount of credits each month to book these rooms with your membership. These rooms are fantastic if you have an important meeting to host, or if you’re working on a project with a larger group.
Members can also host events in the common spaces as well. There are ample amounts of seating in the common spaces, and the space can be configured in so many ways! If you ever wanted to host a meetup, a networking event, or a panel, this would be the perfect fit.
