How I Honestly Feel About the Future of This Blog

First and foremost: if you’re a regular here, you probably have noticed that I’ve been posting on my blog pretty erratically.

I’ve been on the road off and on for several weeks. Which, you know, is my thing as a travel blogger. But something has just been majorly off for me over the last month.

I’m very aware that organic growth is pretty stagnant for everyone in the blog game right now. But it doesn’t mean that I still feel super great when I spend 3 hours producing a blog post, only for it to get a handful of engagements. It still doesn’t feel amazing when I notice my Instagram follower count decline on a regular basis. And it certainly never feels great when you’re passed over for a campaign.

You guys: I was over the whole blogging thing. Yes. My job. I couldn’t bring myself to sit down and write a post. My insecurities got the best of me. How on earth did little old ME have a shot at succeeding when there are people who look better in a swimsuit than I did? When there are people who are my “friends” and that I admire a lot, but who clearly buy their followers?

Every time I get into one of these ruts, I know it’s time to take a break.

I took some time off to relax, refresh, and recharge. And you know what? I’m ready to get back into the game and start producing yet again.

Breaks are healthy, but in this industry, you’re expected to be “on” 24/7. Truth be told, I needed a proper vacation. I tried my best to schedule all of my blog posts and social media before my 12-day trip, but do you know how difficult it is to schedule out 12 days of content beforehand when you have all the life distractions? It ain’t easy, my friends.

This time away was good for the soul. I was especially thankful that I traveled to a country with somewhat weak WiFi, and it forced me to put my phone away for once and really LIVE.

It also helped me gain some perspective: despite my small follower count, I’ve done some pretty incredible things with this little blog. I’ve been to NYFW for five seasons in a row. Traveled across the country. Partnered with a lot of the brands who create products that I’ve used (and loved!) for years.

Tl;dr: Thank you all for coming back and reading after this unexpected hiatus. I’m so ready to get back home and create more content for you all. And also, to share some of the content we produced while I was away (I hope you love it as much as I do!)
