Last month, we ventured up to Montreal for a fall getaway, and I fell in love with this charming city. What I love most about Montreal is that it has a chic, European flair, yet is still very accessible from the Mid-Atlantic. Not to mention: I had some of the best meals of my entire life in Quebec’s largest city.

If you’re thinking about planning a trip up to Montreal in the near future, I’d highly recommend staying at Hotel Monville — it was one of the most memorable hotels I’ve ever stayed at for several reasons.

Reason to Stay at Hotel Monville:

Location

If you’re visiting Montreal for the first time, I would highly recommend staying Downtown. Hotel Monville is located in the heart of Downtown Montreal and within walking distance of some of the best shopping and dining in town. It was only a 30-minute ride from the airport, and a couple blocks away from the Place-d’Armes metro stop. It was also super easy to grab an Uber from our hotel (Lyft was not an option in Montreal, just FYI!), and every driver we had spoke English.

Checking In & The Rooms

Hotel Monville opened their doors in March 2018, and it is one of the most innovative hotels I’ve ever stayed at. One of the most unique things about Hotel Monville is that you can opt for online check-in and check-out. In the lobby, there were several tablets available where you could check yourself in, or you could speak to a hotel representative if you’re a bit more old school. Since I was visiting for a press trip, I chose to speak to a representative to check in, but you really can’t go wrong either way.

We stayed in The Monville Suite, and felt like royalty: the view was incredible, the room was spacious enough for all of my luggage and all of Tom’s camera gear, and I had one of the most comfortable nights of sleep in the plush king-sized bed. There were some days where we called it a night early just so that we could enjoy more time in our hotel room. I was able to tour their Standard Room and was pleasantly surprised by the amount of space that room offered as well. No matter what type of room you ended going for, you really can’t go wrong.

Another little thing that made my experience? This hotel offers non-scented bath products, for my friends who also have sensitive skin. The bathroom in our suite felt like a miniature spa, and I looked forward to using the luxe rain shower head every day during our stay — which comes standard in every room.

Dining

One of the coolest things about Hotel Monville is that they offer a robot hotel room service. You order food on your TV screen, and their adorable little robot (which is appropriately named H2M2) will send it up within a matter of minutes! The food that can be delivered is more on the casual grab and go side; so don’t expect any hot dishes or fussy plates to be sent up. If you want to see it in action, make sure to check out my Montreal story highlight on Instagram!

There’s also a little grab and go food market in the lobby of the building if you need food on the run, and for a more upscale dining experience, you can head to their gorgeous lobby bar for an incredible selection of Old Montreal favorites and global cuisine.

Amenities

Hotel Monville has an incredible rooftop that offers some of the most stunning 360-degree views of Downtown Montreal. Unfortunately, there isn’t a bar or restaurant available on the rooftop, but there’s an ample amount of seating, and you do have to option to bring your own food up and enjoy the views.

This hotel also has a gym that’s open 24/7, plenty of meeting spaces on the property if you need to host an event, valet parking and car charging stations available. Overall, I loved how modern and tech-friendly Hotel Monville was, and very impressed that they were able to offer such a luxury experience at an attainable price point.

Things to Do Near Hotel Monville

I plan on launching my Montreal Travel Guide in a few weeks, but in the meantime, here were some of my favorite things to near Hotel Monville:

  • Shopping in Centre-Ville. Centre-Ville is home to dozens of shops and boutiques, ranging from major chains like Zara and Lululemon to smaller boutiques that are local to Montreal. I love that there’s a fantastic mix of high-end and affordable shopping options in this District.

  • Take A Stoll near Old Port Montreal. Old Port Montreal is one of my favorite spots in the city: you can soak up incredible views of the waterfront, dine at some incredible restaurants, go zip lining, and even ride the Montreal Observation Wheel for some of the best views of the city.

  • Go Museum Hopping. Hotel Monville is incredibly close to some of the best museums in Montreal: the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal (or MAC for short), Montreal Museum of Fine Arts and McCord Museum are all within walking distance of the hotel.

Thank you to Hotel Monville for hosting me during my time in Montreal! All thoughts and opinions are my own.
