Even though I moved away from D.C. back in May, my family still lives in the area, and I’m still getting invited to a ton of blog events that I just can’t seem to pass up. I’m fully aware that 25% of my audience is still based in D.C. as well, so D.C. coverage will *always* be in demand!

Since I’m only a 2 hour train ride away from D.C., I anticipate myself visiting pretty frequently — it’s just too easy for me to get to the city via Amtrak or Megabus! Even though I could crash with friends, I prefer to book a hotel whenever I go back to D.C. so that I can go in and out as I please. I typically book a ton of appointments whenever I visit!

I toured Hotel Hive a few weeks before I moved, and I knew that’s exactly where I wanted to stay when I visited a few weeks ago. Hotel Hive is a microhotel, so the room is the perfect size for what you need. I know I typically don’t spend a ton of time in my hotel room whenever I travel to cities like NYC and DC, so the smaller size worked perfectly for me!

Hotel Hive also has my *favorite* D.C.-based pizza joint at the bottom of the building: &pizza. If you haven’t been, it’s almost like a Chipotle-type concept, but for ‘za: you can pick out every ingredient of your pizza, including the dough, cheese, sauce and toppings, and they make it right in front of you. I’m pretty thankful that Philly has an &pizza as well since it’s seriously one of my favorite restaurants of all time!

This super chic hotel also has a stunning rooftop bar that both guests and locals frequent! I highly recommend heading up to their rooftop on a summer nights and grabbing some of their frosé (aka frozen rosé) — it’s my go-to drink of the summer!

Hotel Hive: I miss you. Thank you for letting me crash for a night and jump on your amazingly comfortable beds!

I so miss living on the east coast where you get get almost anywhere via Amtrack. I booked an Amtrack trip shortly after moving to California and was shocked that my trip involved 3 buses and only 1 short stint on the train. And the bus driver skipped my stop and dropped me off in the middle of nowhere. No more Amtrack for me until I go back east.

Anyway, Hotel Hive looks amazing. I just love how clean and fresh everything looks.
