I know my posting schedule has been inconsistent lately. And to be honest? I’ve been pretty unmotivated to write about things like fashion and travel considering what’s going on in the country this past week.
I grew up in the D.C. area, and my mom has worked for the federal government for over 20 years. Needless to say, I’ve been paying attention to politics for a long time — and I get disheartened when people my age say they aren’t “that political.”
Everyone should be invested in politics. After all, these people who are in office are making major decisions that impact you. However, I think people associate being “political” in this day and age with reposting biased articles on their social channels and getting into arguments with their Facebook friends. And that’s not the case.
I woke up to an email this morning from a D.C. candidate looking to pay me for a sponsored Instagram post. While I’ve never been afraid to voice my opinion, I don’t think it’s my place to accept a sponsored campaign from a local candidate. I want you to do your research, and I want you to vote for the candidate that has the same views and morals as you.
(Aaaand technically I’ve never lived in D.C. proper, so to be honest: I wouldn’t feel comfortable endorsing any D.C. candidate, considering it is a race I’m not closely following.)

Each state has different rules on how to register to vote. If you google “Register to Vote in [State Name],” Google has a pop-up box that will break down all the ways you’re able to register in your state. Pretty simple, huh? See you at the polls next month, my friends.
