Let’s talk about high school for a bit, shall we? I’m attending my 10-year high school reunion this fall, and I’m in denial at how fast time flies at this point. In high school, I was somewhat of a Type A overachiever: I joined a few too many clubs, did a lot of photography for our Yearbook, and had a position on the student council for most of my high school career. Is anyone surprised that I now own my own little business?
Listen: if you went to high school in the 2000’s, it was an interesting time for fashion. And oddly, some of those High School fashion trends are making a huge comeback.
Destroyed denim? Still rock them. Kitten heels? Surprisingly, they’re becoming chic again. Abercrombie? Yup, 2018 Alicia is a customer. The denim mini skirt? I have fully embraced it.
No, I’m not rocking that same mini skirt I wore from Hollister back in the day — for starters, there’s a zero percent chance it would fit if I still had it. However, the denim mini skirt has gotten a lot of incredible upgrades in the last few years.
For starters, I always like to opt for a denim mini that’s high-waisted. I adore this option from & Other Stories because it’s sleek and sassy, and perfect for a summer date night. It looks great with a sleek crop top, a blouse, or even a t-shirt — it’s a piece that you can easily dress up or down.
I have a few other denim minis in my closet that are a little less fitted, and also have raw hems. It’s the one piece that’s perfect to rock all summer long!
