Stylish Halloween Decorations Ideas: How to Decorate Your Apartment for Halloween

Thank you to Marshalls for partnering with me on today’s Halloween Decorations Ideas post. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Washington D.C. blogger Alicia Tenise teams up with Marshalls to share some Halloween Decor Inspiration - Frightful Halloween Decorations Ideas: How to Decorate Your Apartment for Halloween by Washington DC style blogger Alicia Tenise

I moved into my apartment back in May, and I’ve had a blast so far making it my own and finding the best decor around. As soon as September hit, I knew I wanted to transition my decor from summer to fall. While I love seasonal decor, I also try not to spend too much on it — if I can only use an item for a couple of months out of the year, why would I spend a fortune on it?

I’m planning on throwing a Halloween cocktail party at my place in a couple of weeks, and I’m looking forward to playing hostess! I knew I wanted chic, on-trend Halloween decorations ideas to match the party, so that’s why I stopped by my local Marshalls here in Philly.

My local Marshalls was packed with a ton of great fall and Halloween decorations ideas, so I had a hard time not buying it all! I selected items that had more of a general fall feeling and mixed in a couple of very Halloween-specific items so that I could leave my Halloween decorations up for a couple of weeks.

Here’s are a few tips I found helpful when shopping for seasonal pieces:

Prepare for Entertaining

When I’m switching things up seasonally, the first thing I do is head to my bar cart. It’s the little space in my living room that all of my guests tend to gravitate towards, and it’s super easy and inexpensive to decorate it. When I saw this metallic pumpkin in Marshalls, I was immediately inspired to center my bar cart decor around it. I also added a few adorable decor blocks (how cute is the “Drink Up Witches” block?) and some paper napkins to complete my bar cart overhaul. In total, all of these accessories cost me less than $40! I plan on leaving up the pumpkin and swapping out the blocks and napkins for Thanksgiving-related pieces once November 1st rolls around!

Add Pops of Color

My living room is pretty neutral, so it was easy to add a few pops of color to transition my space from summer to fall. I spotted this gorgeous designer orange pillow at Marshalls, and I knew it was the perfect complement to the black and white throw pillows that I already own. I married these of pops of orange on my bar cart as well, with some napkins and other little accents I spotted while shopping at my local Marshalls.

Play with Halloween Mood Lighting

To get in the Halloween spirit, I added this gorgeous centerpiece to my coffee table and placed pumpkin-scented candles so that my place could smell the part as well! This stylish centerpiece was from the Tahari Home collection and was only $29.99 (but is valued at $42!) — that was certainly a pleasant surprise!

That all looks SO cute! I didn’t get much decorating done this year, I’ve been too wrapped up in everything happening, and now it feels like it’s too late. But next year for sure!
