Guys: I went to Colorado last week and it was fun. And unfortunately, half of my travel photos are gone.
When I got the news that my boyfriend and I left the memory card that contained a few hundred photos on the plane, I immediately curled up on my couch and straight up couldn’t bring myself to do anything for a few hours. And trust me, I had a lot to do last night (like packing for NYFW). The content I worked on all last week? Boom. Half of it is gone. And it’s not like I can just hop back on a plane to Colorado and reshoot those images.
Despite me losing half my vacation photos, it’s not that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things. Seriously. Hurricane Harvey survivors still need your support, there are wildfires in the second largest city in the U.S., and we have another big storm hitting Florida any minute now, oh and yeah — we have to #DefendDACA. I have to be honest: I’m not in the mood really to travel to NYFW today with all of these pressing issues we face in our country at the moment, but I do have professional commitments I need to honor, so the show must go on.
I know that sometimes it’s easy to get caught up in our privilege. I’m trying to get better at not letting my first world problems get the best of me.
SUCH a bummer that all those photos were lost. I know I would be devastated! I’m so sorry, girly! But I’m proud of you for keeping up the positive attitude!
Ugh that is the WORST and sad to say I’ve also had it happen more than once, though you’re so right to try and put it in perspective – we all need to step back sometimes and think about what else is going on in the world.
Hope you have fun at NYFW!

Agree it could always be worse! It’s so important to always find something to be grateful for!
I can completely empathize with your photo-loss situation. Years ago my hubby accidentally deleted the video of our young daughters swimming with dolphins. Fast foward a few years, and with the touch of a button our Paris, France vacation pics were zapped – gone forever. But the hardest was not being able to access my daughter Brooke’s college graduation photos from the SD card that was corrupted – now that brought on a set of real tears!
Omg Alicia….. My heart just sunk for you! I know how much that stinks!!!! Love your perspective tho and I always love your fighting heart! Can’t wait to following along as you go to NYFW!
It can always be worse, but it is ok to wallow in your first world problems for just a little bit!
Oh no, that’s terrible but I really appreciate your spirit and positive attitude about the situation <3
So sorry for you, but you’re so right in realizing that there are other big things (namely the two you mention!) going on right now. I’d like to think you’ll be compensated for your misfortune sometime soon! đ
Ugh I would have felt so sick to my stomach if that would have happened to me. I’m so sorry! I’m glad that you’re still really positive though!
Your photos here are so stunning, I’m so sorry to hear this! Maybe think there is a reason for it, that you might use it to shoot even more photos and get even more practise in (even though you totally don’t need it!) and create your best work ever! đ xx

It’s always disappointing to lose something like that! So sorry you did. I love that you’re reframing how you think about it, though. That’s important too.
