Hello everyone! I’m sure you’re noticing that things are looking a little, um, different on the blog today! Let me explain.
I launched River City Chic a couple of months before I moved to the ‘River City’ itself — Richmond, VA. When I created it, I had no intentions of it becoming a personal style blog. I envisioned it being a documentary of my life and adventures in the new, exciting city that I was moving to. Well, I’m not one to stick to plans; to be honest I had a pretty difficult time adjusting to life in Richmond and I really didn’t take advantage of the city like I should have the first year I was there due to extenuating circumstances. From there, it just evolved into a personal style blog, and I’m thankful that it did. The transition from my senior year of college to my first year in the real world was pretty pivotal in a lot of ways, my style included. My style has grown so much in the last couple of years, and this blog has pushed me to take many more risks with fashion than I normally would.
I moved out of the ‘River City’ almost a year ago, and the name of my blog just definitely didn’t fit anymore. I kept getting invites to Richmond events, I kept receiving enthusiastic comments from people looking to connect with other Richmond bloggers, and people expected me to make the 90-mile journey back down to the city for fashion outings. Don’t get me wrong — I enjoyed the time I spent living in the good ol’ capital of Virginia. However, I only spent two short years in the city, I don’t have any plans to move back, and the title of my blog just wasn’t a good fit.
I’ve been debating back and forth for months now with the idea of renaming and rebranding my blog. After speaking about it to plenty of family and friends, I have finally decided to take the plunge. What did I finally decide to name my baby? A name I would never grow tired of — my own. This rebranding has only been live for a few hours now, but I’m 100% confident in my decision. I really hope you enjoy the next chapter of my blog as much as I do.
