Last week, I posted an Instagram story sharing that you could buy one of my favorite sunscreen brands sold at Sephora at the FSA store. The response to that single story was pretty overwhelming, and I figured it was only right to expand upon this and share more beauty products you could purchase with your FSA benefits.
What is an FSA, you ask? It’s short for a Flexible Spending Account. You can read this article to get a full breakdown of what an FSA is. Long story short, it’s an account that your employer sets up where you can deposit money monthly and get tax-free benefits for healthcare costs. I’m self-employed, so I have an HSA (Health Savings Account) set up. I’m going to go ahead and link you to this article explaining the benefits of an HSA because I’m having a hard time breaking down what that is in layman’s terms for this post as well.
So now that you hopefully know the benefits of an FSA (or an HSA!) let me introduce you to a gamechanger: FSAStore.com. Or HSAStore.com, depending on what type of account you have. These online shops only sell FSA or HSA-eligible products, eliminating any guesswork. Honestly, I forget to use my HSA card at the grocery store for many eligible things, so if you need help spending these funds, these websites are a must.
So, what exactly can you spend your FSA or HSA dollars on? Let’s look at a few surprising eligible products on these websites!
I was shocked to see a high-end sunscreen brand that is sold in Sephora and Nordstrom in the FSA store, but now I might not ever buy it full-price at another store ever again. If you’re not a Supergoop fan, the FSA Store carries plenty of other sunscreen brands, such as Coola, MDSolarSciences, and Banana Boat.
Being a person that gets menstrual periods can be expensive. The tampons, pads, and pain medication can really add up each month!
I was pleasantly surprised to see a lot of feminine care options on the FSA website. One of them being Thinx, which is a line of period underwear. I started using these last year, and I love them. They can absorb several tampons worth of liquid and were a game-changer for me on the cross-country road trip I took last month. It was awesome to have that extra insurance that I wouldn’t have any leaks during long car rides!
In addition to period underwear, you can also purchase tampons, pads, and period pain relief medication in their Feminine Care Section.
Acne-Fighting Skincare Products
How much do we all spend on skincare each year? If you’re struggling with acne, it might be a solid idea to purchase some FSA-eligible skincare products.
They carry nearly every drugstore brand at the FSA Store, like Neutrogena, Aveeno, and Clean & Clear. You can even purchase high-end acne light treatments here as well. If you have a skincare concern, don’t sleep on the FSA Store!
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
I feel kind of foolish that I just figured out that the PPE we’ve been buying the entire pandemic have been FSA-eligible since day one.
The FSA Store has a pretty impressive PPE shop, including at-home COVID-19 tests, wet wipes, hand sanitizer, and masks. Even though mask mandates are lifting for fully vaccinated people, it might not be a bad idea to have some extra masks and hand sanitizers on hand!
Whether you’re trying to have children or if you’re not interested in growing your family, the FSA Store has you covered either way. You can buy pregnancy tests, fertility trackers, prenatal vitamins, and condoms at the family planning shop.
What other FSA Store products do you like to buy? Let me know in the comments below!
