Becoming a full-time blogger was a big transition for me. When I was still balancing my 9-5 and my blog, I would wake up pretty early, answer emails, go to work, answer more emails or shoot during my lunch break, head to an event after work, and then usually stay awake until midnight working on my blog.
Fast forward to today. While I still don’t have the best work-life balance, it is pretty incredible to have a commute that involves me walking from my bed to my desk every day. However, I think you’d be surprised at how early I wake up even though, as a full-time blogger, I’m my own boss!
My Morning Routine as a Full-Time Blogger:
7:15 AM: Alarm Goes Off
So technically, my alarm goes off at 7:15, but I tend to wake up 5-10 minutes before my alarm goes off anyway. C’est la vie. I stop checking my email at 6 pm every evening, so when I wake up, I’ll roll over, check what emails came from the West Coast/overseas later on at night, and gauge what projects I need to take care of immediately.
I’ll also quickly use that time to reply to Instagram DMs, check my social media, and relax before starting the day.
7:45 AM: Breakfast
I have to eat something when I wake up, or else I’ll get super hangry and can’t focus! I’ll either make myself an English Muffin with peanut butter, and banana slices, or Tom will whip up a breakfast hash using some of our leftovers from the night before. Also, let’s not forget the most important part of the day: coffee.
8:15 AM: Write, Write, Write
I write all of my blog posts in the morning — whether I need to write a post in advance to send to a brand for review, or whether I’m writing today’s post. It’s tough for me to write after 2 pm for some odd reason, so I use that time before 9 AM when I have the least amount of distractions to power through an article. I’ll also use that time to schedule social media, and follow up on any time-sensitive emails.
8:45 AM: Shower Time
Oddly enough, I would say that shower time is my favorite time of day for me. After I’m finished writing the day’s post and have skimmed over my emails, I have a good sense of what I need to get done for the day — and I use shower time to recharge and brainstorm creative post ideas for the day.
Over time, I’ve developed a bit of sensitive skin, and I’ve had to start replacing my scented body washes with unscented products that are far more gentle. After traveling for two weeks straight earlier this month and using the scented hotel body washes, I developed hives — and I knew it was time to get more serious about my skincare!
I switched over to the Dove Sensitive Skin Shower Foam, and I am loving the results. My skin feels incredibly soft, I’m in love with the foaming technology, and shower time feels more like spa time. I’m not going to lie: I’ve extended the length of my showers by a couple of minutes after switching to this product! You can also enjoy this product sans loofah: just squeeze the foam into your hand, spread the soft lather, and enjoy!
Dove’s Shower Foam comes in multiple different options: there are scented options available for those of you who love coming out of the shower smelling fantastic, their classic deep-moisture formula, and a Shea Butter formula that I picked up for my guest bathroom.
I picked up my Dove Shower Foam at CVS — and from now until 10/28, Dove and Dove Men+Care Foams are 2 for $15 with your ExtraBucks® card! Perfect time to stock up, right?
What is your morning routine like?
