Most of you know this, but I’ve spent the last three weeks in D.C. for the most part since my mom just had a hip replacement. I also snuck in a quick press trip to New Orleans as well, but I’ve only been in Philly for a handful of days this month! During my extended stay in the District, I snuck in a shoot at a new luxury apartment building — AvA NoMa. These bright yellow chairs are located in their courtyard which is pretty breathtaking, and they also have a swanky rooftop pool and clubhouse, a gym, and plenty of other amazing amenities! If I had to move back to D.C., this would be my apartment building of choice!

Even though I’ve had a blast in D.C., your girl is ready to go back to Philly ASAP! I feel like I’ve spent half the summer on the road, and I’m hoping to explore my new city as much as possible during the latter half of the season. Here’s what’s on my bucket list for the next couple of months!

  1. The Shore

Philly is only about an hour away from the (Jersey) Shore. No, not the trashy Shore you’re used to seeing on MTV. There are some pretty spectacular, more sophisticated beaches that are only a quick drive away! I’m not used to being able to make a day trip to the beach because while I was living in D.C., I was always a minimum of a 3-4 hour drive from the ocean. We’re thinking of heading to Brigantine in the next few weeks, but if anyone has recommendations, hit me up!

  2. Center City Sips

I went to the Sips preview night back in May, but I have yet to attend the real deal. Every Wednesday, multiple bars in the Center City district have extended happy hour specials and the whole city comes out to celebrate. And, well, my local friends tell me that because of this awesome weekly party, folks in Philly typically start their weekends on Wednesdays during the summer!

  3. Eating, Eating and More Eating

You guys know me: I absolutely love to eat! Philly is a spectacular foodie town, and I have a huge list of places I’m dying to try once I get back. On my list includes Little Spoon, Talula’s Garden, La Viola and Dizengoff! I’m always adding to my Philly restaurant list, so if you have any suggestions (that aren’t a Starr restaurant, because I already know and love them!), let me know.

  4. Catch a Concert at Festival Pier

I’ll actually be checking this off my bucket list this weekend since there’s a free (yes FREE) concert that a radio station is throwing (Misterwives is headlining, and I absolutely adore them!) Festival Pier is a really cool outdoor music venue right on the river, and they have a pretty solid lineup of artists that are playing this summer. Hopefully I can fit in one or two more shows before they close for the season!

  5. Made in America

MIA is a music festival that was created by Jay-Z that’s held every Labor Day Weekend right on Ben Franklin Parkway. I’ve known about this festival for years, but I’ve never been able to swing the trip up to Philly to go. I doubt I’ll be going out of town this year for LDW since I have to leave for NYFW shortly after, so this is the perfect way to spend the holiday weekend at home!

What else should I add to my Philly Summer Bucket List?

If I had just looked at a picture of this ruffled skirt online. I would have passed it by. On you it looks amazing and I must buy it. This is why I love blogs because you get to see real women recommending their favorites. You look beautiful.
