As most of you know by now, I’m a D.C. area native.
One of my favorite things to do growing up was head to the Kennedy Center for a variety of performances. I’ve seen so many amazing kinds of acts over the years at the Kennedy Center, including a few ballets, musicals, and even a few concerts.
However: did you know that you can also catch some of the best stand-up comedians in the country at the Kennedy Center? Yeah, me neither — until a couple of years ago.
DISTRICT OF COMEDY FESTIVAL — FUN FOR ALL
During summer 2016, the kind folks at Capital One invited me to the first annual District of Comedy Festival ft. Joel McHale. I had an absolute blast — the venue was intimate, Joel was hilarious, and it was the perfect date night out. A lot of performances at the Kennedy Center are more on the formal side. However, the District of Comedy Festival was laid back and approachable.
The District of Comedy Festival is an expansion of Capital One’s Comedy at the Kennedy Center sponsorship, and this year, they’re bringing acclaimed stars and rising acts for an incredible three-day comedy series. As a Capital One customer (I’m a proud owner of their Platinum card!), I’m a huge fan of their commitment to Comedy at the Kennedy Center, a signature program at the Center focused on elevating comedy as an art form and uniting the local community together through laughter.
