If you follow me on Snapchat, Twitter, Instagram, really any social media platform — you might have noticed last week that that I couldn’t shut up about some event called Blogger Scene.

3 years ago, I finished up my last summer class at VCU and moved straight back to the D.C. suburbs where I grew up. I launched my blog in Richmond which is a great city, and it had a small, tight-knit blogging group that I felt super comfortable around. I was super, super nervous to move to a bigger blog market like D.C., and felt like my little blog might get lost amongst the major D.C. blogs I was following.

The same week I moved back, there was some event called Blogger Scene people were talking about. I knew I had to go but I was nervous, as I didn’t know a single soul who was going. So I grabbed my guy friend (who didn’t blog at all) and hoped I would maybe meet one new blog friend in such a big city.

That event really changed my blogging career, for the better. I met my best blogging friends to this date at that night, as well as some amazing PR folks who have helped me along the way, and in a matter of a 2-hour cocktail networking party, established myself as a D.C. blogger.

Blogger Scene has had several events over the last three years, and this is the first event I was able to co-host. Natalie from The Fashionably Broke is the creator of the event, and Julien from It’s Julien and I were able to help out with the event for the very first time this year.

It’s part cocktail party, part education, 100% fun: it’s hosted at a fun location, there are great drinks, and a short panel of area bloggers. This past event, we had Diego from Diego Downtown, Sara from Style MBA and Diana from Greenheart Organic/Lust Local speaking on the panel. I learned a lot from these panelists, and they *completely* crushed it. We also end the event with a killer set of giveaways!

Thank you to everyone who came, and a big thanks to The Embassy Row for letting us host the event at their amazing rooftop, Lilly Pulitzer, for styling us, and South Moon UnderLIPP Beautifully, Framebridge, The Flower Luxe, Zengo Cycle, Refine Boutique, Cuyana, Tuckernuck, Sophie Blake, VeluxeLynn Louisa, Rent the Runway, and Bluemercury, for the amazing giveaways!
