The more I have time to reflect on 2020, the more I appreciate that I could spend more time at home than usual. After spending a few years constantly being on the road with travel blogging gigs, it was very refreshing to settle into home life for a bit, improve my beauty routine, and share the best skincare products I tried in 2020.

Earlier this week, I chatted about my favorite natural hair care products that I tried in 2020, and today I’m featuring some of the standout skincare products that I tried last year. I really tried to make my home feel like a spa last year: from redoing my master bathroom to scooping up a ton of acclaimed products at the Sephora sales last year!

Here are some of the best skincare products of 2020, in my opinion! Also, as a heads up: some of these products were gifted to me by brands. If anything is gifted, it will have a ℅ symbol next to his name. Please note that I am not obligated to talk about gifted product, and I only feature them here if I truly love it and can vouch for it!

My Favorite Skincare Products of 2020:

Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen SPF 40

I’ve talked about this product before, but hands down, this was one of my favorite overall beauty purchases of the year.

I love that the Unseen Sunscreen is basically like a magical, IRL FaceTune filter: it blurs and mattifies your skin and minimizes pores. I love to put this on before Zoom calls because you can rock a no-makeup look on camera but still appear to be touched up, and it also protects my skin against the harmful effects of blue light. This sunscreen also doubles as a makeup primer, and my makeup grips onto my skin perfectly after I apply this product.

If you have drier skin, you might want to check out Supergoop’s Glow Screen. I’ve heard amazing things about it from other bloggers with drier skin, but it made my oily t-zone a bit too shiny for my liking!

Nécessaire The Body Lotion ℅

I’ve heard a lot of hype about Nécessaire over the past few years, and after seeing Grace rave over it this summer, I knew I needed to give it a try!

Their team was kind enough to gift me a few of their essentials, and I fell in love with the Body Lotion. I love that it’s thick but not greasy and sinks into my skin incredibly well. It leaves my skin feeling soft and buttery! Plus, it keeps my skin moisturized all day, and it has been a godsend this winter. It’s also a clean beauty product loaded with vitamins, and it’s doing wonders for my skin.

Dermalogica Retinol Acne Clearing Oil ℅

You guys probably know by now that I love Dermalogica. Every product that I try from them is solid, and I love that it’s one of the few lines out there that makes great products for adult acne.

I still get breakouts from time to time, but now that I (happily!) wear a mask regularly, I’m definitely more prone to maskne in the chin area. This product was a gamechanger and is one of the only things that helped me manage my stubborn maskne. I use this at night after I cleanse and before putting on my moisturizer in my t-zone. I like to use a serum that’s a bit more hydrating on my cheeks since those get dry, and also, this product is a bit on the pricey side, so I use it sparingly. If I get a breakout and apply this at night, I definitely notice a huge improvement by the time I wake up in the morning!

Supergoop! Bright-Eyed 100% Mineral Eye Cream SPF 40

Having SPF in your eye cream just makes sense, and I can’t believe that this is the first eye cream that I own that has this special ingredient. I put on sunscreen daily as a way to protect my skin against sun damage and aging. Why wouldn’t you do the same for your delicate eye area?

I also love that this product has caffeine as well, and it wakes up my under-eye area, even if I get a horrible night of sleep. Since this product has SPF, I use this in the morning, and I opt for the Elemis Pro-Collagen Eye Revive Mask at night.

Peter Thomas Roth Therapeutic Sulfur Acne Treatment Mask

You guys probably know by now that Maskne was definitely my biggest skincare concern in 2020, and I tried quite a few products last year to try to minimize acne in my chin area.

This mask works miracles. If I wake up with a blemish, I’ll put this on before going to bed at night, and that blemish will significantly reduce in size overnight. I love that you only need to leave it on for 5-10 minutes and that you can also use it as a spot treatment as well. Fair warning: it’s not the most pleasant smelling mask out there, but it certainly gets the job done.
