While I’m stuck indoors for the next few months, I’m ramping up my self-care to help ease my anxiety and put me in a better mood. While I miss traveling, being at home honestly hasn’t been a bad thing for me. This is the first time in years that I’ve been able to settle into a routine, declutter my space, and work on myself!
Usually, any signs of dry, chapped lips will go away in the spring for me. However, now that I’m sitting indoors for most of the day (sometimes all day!), I noticed that my lips were far drier than normal for this time of year. Sitting inside all day and switching from heat to AC has taken a bit of a toll on my lips, and I noticed that I was consistently applying lip balm throughout the day! I decided to switch up my lip care routine over the last few weeks and start using Awake Beauty Lip Therapy. Here are a few products and methods that have worked wonders for me.
How to Treat Chapped Lips with Awake Beauty Lip Therapy
Try a Daytime Lip Mask
Sometimes a grocery store lip balm will do the trick, but when I’m sitting inside all day, I need something a bit more heavy-duty! Indoor heating systems suck the moisture out of the air and can lead to chapped lips.
I recently integrated the new Awake Beauty Moisture Balm Daytime Lip Mask into my daily routine, and it packs way more of a punch than the average lip balm does. Awake Beauty is the sister brand to Tarte Cosmetics, and they offer clean beauty options for the everygirl. The Daytime Lip Mask hydrates for 12 hours, and will even hydrate your lips overnight as well! After applying the Daytime Lip Mask, my lips instantly felt smoother, and I didn’t have to reapply the product either constantly.
The best part of this product? It’s very budget-friendly, and it is cruelty-free and always formulated without parabens, mineral oil, phthalates, triclosan, sodium lauryl, sulfate, or gluten. If you’re looking for a clean beauty lip mask option, this is a solid bet!
Use a Lip Scrub
How often do you exfoliate your lips? To be candid, I didn’t even think to exfoliate them up until a few years ago, but it’s a great step to incorporate into your beauty routine. Lip exfoliators will remove the dry, flaky skin off your lips, and they contain ingredients that keep your lips feeling and looking moist and healthy. You don’t need to exfoliate daily. However, it’s good to do so at least once a week. Your lips will instantly feel softer and smoother after using a lip scrub!
Some lip scrubs that should be on your radar? I love the taste cosmetics lip facial lip scrub and pout prep lip exfoliant! You can also make a DIY lip scrub at home if you want to tackle another project during quarantine.
Snag a Nighttime Lip Mask
After I complete my nighttime skincare routine, my lips often feel super dry. I used to apply a regular lip balm before heading to bed, but sometimes I would still wake up with dry, chapped lips.
I started using a nighttime lip mask a few years ago, and it has been a gamechanger. My lips look and feel incredible in the morning, and the extra hours of hydration have worked wonders. I started using the Awake Beauty Lip Therapy Lip Mask recently, and I’ve been loving my results. This product is also cruelty-free and is a concentrated oil blend of olive, argan, rosehip, and raspberry seed that works overtime while you get your beauty sleep. It goes on pretty thick once you initially apply it at night. However, the product will absorb flawlessly overnight.
Avoid Matte Lipsticks
Guys: I love a good matte lipstick. However, I don’t love how matte lipsticks can dry out my lips so quickly!
Even though we’re all stuck in the house, I still put on lipstick for Zoom happy hours and photoshoots. It’s something that makes me feel a lot more put together and more like myself! While I’ve been stuck indoors, I’ve opted for cream-based and semi-matte lipsticks rather than the full-on matte lipsticks I tend to gravitate towards.
