I don’t know what it is, but a considerable amount of leggings that I’ve purchased do not pass the squat test.
Maybe it’s because I’m long-legged. Maybe it’s because I carry more weight in my stomach. But for some reason, I’ve had a lot of issues with leggings sliding down during workouts. But there’s one brand that I can rely on, time and time again. And that brand is Athleta.
Why Athleta Leggings are Worth the Investment
Listen. I know that Athleta might not have the most budget-friendly tights out there. It hurts me a bit to drop $100 on a pair of leggings. However, the investment for me has been 100% worth it. I’ve tried to cut corners and get cheaper leggings in the past, and I end up wearing those budget leggings once and ditching them. My Athleta leggings don’t wear out super easily, even when I’m wearing them during my most intense HIIT workouts, so it’s definitely the more sustainable option for my body type and lifestyle!
To be honest, I’ve loved Athleta for a while. I had the awesome opportunity to partner with them not once but twice in 2017, and I’ve been a stan ever since. To be honest, everything Athleta does, they do it well. I was gifted one of their winter coats in 2017, and since then, I’ve purchased two more of my own because they are so ridiculously warm and high-quality.
But, we’re here to talk about the leggings. For starters, I love how super high-waisted their tights are. I think that’s what makes these leggings super squat-proof. Most of the Athleta leggings that I own have a side pocket, which is big enough to hold my iPhone X Pro Max. And the best part, my big phone doesn’t weigh the leggings down either, so I can comfortably walk to a yoga class or take a lap around my neighborhood without bringing a bag with me.
These leggings manage to keep me warm when I’m walking outside in the cold, but they also feel cool and comfortable during workouts as well. I love that these tights are not only fashionable but functional as well!
Also, one side note: Athleta’s sports bras are also the only ones that fit me. I have a small band and a large cup size, and I love that they offer their sports bras in A-C cups and D-DD cups as well. Plus, I got the scoop from a sales associate that they’re going to carry more plus-size options in their stores soon. We love size diversity!
For sizing, I’d recommend sizing down in the leggings. I like my tanks to be a bit more oversized to knot them, so I go with my regular size. However, if you want your tops and tanks from Athleta to fit snuggly, go a size down.
